nice find ronhill!
looks like poor old rene is being plagarised left, right and centre...the question is whether it is by one artist or two?
edit - both this and the sparaypaint soupcan are pretty shameless copies!

Banksy on MBW: "MBW does not fit the stereotype of your average street vandal. His artistic process chiefly consists of throwing random modern cultural icons into a blender and turning it up to eleven. The results are by turns profound, provocative and inspirational." Banksy intro to Basts's book: "...The work isn't so much of a 'melting pot' of culture as a food blender, set on max and left until the motor burns out... His art is fast and loose and cheap, which is strangely why it edures, it's punchy and it has value..." Bahahaha. He really loves recycling old images.

If that one was by Rene Gagnon, does that not suggest this new one is by him as well? rather than Banksy I will drop Rene an email, and point him towards this thread

So what is the difference if he rips off Warhol or Rene or the endless other artists that he has recycled? If I was Rene, I'd personally be flattered and milk the crap out of this.

I was thinking the same but I wouldnt be surprised if he is a bit bitter with this following the jumbo cash-in by Brainwash on the Spray Can.

I wonder how many pieces the Public Relations company promoting the film told Banksy and or his minions to put up before the Sunday launch of his film. Maybe Banksy and or his accomplices will go to California next and tag up the streets of Los Angeles like they did several years ago.

I thought the cap and tracksuit was Rene's idea. Its even better that the photo existed of that first! To find a photo like that and put in an environment where it fits in perfectly is great stuff!

The photograph of Rene wearing a snowboard helmet on his website looks like it was taken in Park City. The plot thickens?

So this piece has to be a response from Banksy to braintosh for stealing Renes work.

Just heard from my driver that the barn (formerly) with the red tag is an historic landmark. It was the first dairy Park City. He told me it was recently "restored." Explains why it was buffed so quickly.

Explains why it was buffed so quickly. Your driver does not know his ass from his elbow. The red tag was on a shed. The historic Osguthorpe dairy barn is across the street on the other side of the highway. In year's past, Sundance has projected the film festival logo onto the historic white barn. Attachments:

All i can say is that i hope MBW falls from his perch... I really dont rate his work and people who buy into it are obviously flippers who are hoping to cash in if he blows up. Banksy seems to have always campaigned against advertising giants and there constant brainwashing on how much we need material goods...maybe this is banksys way of proving he can brainwash a world to buy into an artist who doesnt even create his own work, hopefully making it worthless and screwing all the flippers and the hundreds of dollars they paid for his under par efforts of ripping everyone off. I can cut a stencil and splash some paint on it, and i can steal ideas...

How far the MBW myth is being further promoted by Banksy is unclear... The answer is clear alright... extortion. Banksy wanted to get the clips from MBW to see the film completed and to protect his identity. MBW saw what guys like Banksy and Shep had achieved, and decided he was going to be an "artist". He held the film over Banksy's head and extorted money/promotion in exchange. Banksy even bankrolled the MBW 'life is beautiful' show in LA... Brainwash has done none of it on his own. Thierry is a manipulative leach, and it's an insult to true artists when MBW is written up in the same arena.

"Welcome to Utah, lots of snow for everyone to enjoy!"
Greetings from Salt Lake City. Arrived around one hour ago. Just been to see the buffed angel piece (which now has added 3d specs wearing rats - we concluded poor copies). We think the rest are now gone unless someone can tell us otherwise. Was on our way to the billboard piece when we were advised that's been taken down and replaced.
Any idea on the location for the rat?
Off to park city in the morning and staying there until Thursday.
I'll keep intouch.

Correction: Mr Brainwash was NOT part of the Lazarides show in New York Exactly. This was a common misconception ppl were making bcs MBW came to NYC and bombed all over the city during the week leading up to the Outsider's Show. In particularl, he bombed the immediate area surrounding the Outsiders show -- so far as to the point that he got permission to paint three big 'life is beautiful' Alfred Hitchcock's on a building directly across from the outsider's show! Talk about edging yourself in!!!
