Beejoir Oil Cans, by Coach on Oct 9, 2009 22:27:23 GMT 1, The logo looks like crap....weak, really weak Can I ask that you dont use words such as "Crap" when describing artists work Its ok not to like it, but to use words like that crosses the line, and does not really show any respect to the Artist or other forum members who might like the art. Thank you.
I am not one to always agree with Mr S, but on this occassion I do. Beejoir is a hugely talented artist imo, and his contribution to urban art (or whatever you want to call it) has been substantial. Regardless of that, I alwys find it suprising that forum members think it is ok/proper to say this piece of art or that is crap... etc Dont like it, or not for me etc - fine - but to say that someone's creative contribution is Crap? Not right imo. Just my 2p worth.

Beejoir Oil Cans, by monkeyballs on Oct 9, 2009 22:59:03 GMT 1, I think you have a right to label anything anything you like, I quite like the beejoir, but some of what he has done is (censored). Let's be honest here, if you met them face to face, what would you say? If you would happily label it shite to their face then label it shite online, if not then try to be a little more constructive.
I think that asking someone to curb their opinion neither benefits the artist or a forum discussing art if it is truly an opinion someone would voice directly to the creator of said crap art.

Beejoir Oil Cans, by jimbo73 on Oct 9, 2009 23:16:51 GMT 1, Usual Beejoir rubbish. Very uninspiring, poorly executed and looks more like three multi colored tuna cans stacked on top of one another rather than an oil can.
Give up art Beejoir and concentrate on selling other peoples work instead - you are much better at that!

You are not meant to cross your fingers behind your back when you say such comments
If one read between the lines you would almost believe that you just said it was cr@p

Not wanting to twist things and not expecting a response, but if someone would genuinely walk up to beejoir and say 'sorry mate but that is just shxx then you should be respecting their feelings to allow them to say so here.
I appreciate why you ask for people to restrain and be polite, but its a much better world where people can speak freely, although I draw the line at personal abuse and respect your stance on this.
The difference is if you are offering work for sale, well you as a personality cease to be important and the work is open to praise or abuse, however it does not reflect on the individual who created it and therefore any opinion on a work of art could only be abusive to the work itself, perhaps you have more empathy on this matter than you perhaps need, artists have thick skins, otherwise they would never show any work.
Its like saying, guys can we lay off this whole Oil thing, the oil companies have feelings and to be making works ridiculing them, well it hurts them and their feelings.

Maybe you are right mate. If you would say it to his face its ok to say it one here? I dont know. Just not my style I suppose. I would just rather say I dont like it - as I did for example with the Obey surf print. I wouldnt have said I think its shite. I just think thats disrespectful of an artist who has contributed so much. Again, just my opinion.

Would certainly be at the bottom of the list out of those Cans posted earlier on this thread for sure.

Absolutely mate, it makes you a gent, you have a polite manner and that acts as a self restraint from using fast and damning language, however the wonderful thing about mankind is we are all different. I'll very rarely label anything crap, but if I did, I would mean it and feel that I would be letting someone down not to tell them so given the opportunity.

Fair enough - good point well made. That said, I suspect you are a gent too!

This one. Yeah! Wish I could see it close up. I think it's dark green, not black.

Beejoir Oil Cans, by Coach on Oct 15, 2009 0:28:07 GMT 1, Looking at it there though, the perspective doesnt look right - the bottom of the can looks a bit too flat - I would like to see a front facing photo of this. Do like Beejoirs work - has made a massive contribution to street/urban art imo - suprised by strength of some of the negative comments
