I am taking a bit of a liberty here with the 'Recommend ONE film' thread, but I recommend you should see at least ONE of these three films you have probably never seen before. All are brilliant, all are foreign and subtitled and I think once seen they will get on your favorite film list

I watched a film recently that left me slightly traumatized, shell-shocked and emotionally drained. It's possibly the most powerful film I think I've ever seen.
It's called Idi i Smotri (Come and See) and if you connect with films that actually touch you in a profound way and make a lasting impression then I highly recommend it.
On the other hand, if you (understandably) don't fancy witnessing the extent of the atrocities mankind can and has inflicted on himself, then perhaps it's not for you.
If you have 29 mins, worth every second. Incredible what you can achieve with a series of stills and a great story. Film making at it's simplest, rawest and best.

The Black Book
Downfall
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
Just remembered that "Herr. Hitler is not happy with Banksy." is from Downfall (second my list) ;D
Having just watched the 'documentary film' a very British gangster about Dominic noonan and family I would definetly recommend it to anyone. Oh and while I'm at it another film although it's probably already mentioned 'mesraine' starring the outstanding Vincent Cassell is well worth a watch. 5 stars for his performance alone.
Always on the look out for original Conor Harrington work.
The director of this died today. Reported on R4 that a supreme court judge said of this film that it was a defining moment in their career. Well worth a watch, if you ahvnt seen it.

Good call that man. I've been meaning to mention this film for a while but you beat me to it and said it better than I could have. Probably the most powerful piece of film making I've ever seen too. This film IS war. See it.
