To answer that YES Invader did a run of Signed and Unsigned Alex prints, the signed sold out but the POW ones are the remaining unsigned still available.

Interesting - this is a highly political choice of subject matter for Space Invader. I wonder how many buyers are aware of the background of Holger Meins and the revolutionary terrorist group Baader Meinhof?
I'm generally a fan of Space Invader's work - particularly the street stuff. Though, I'm not sure that I'd necessarily want to have this one gracing my wall.

Thanks ABC for clearing that up...i knew it's be a simple explanation I'm with jjoschi on the background to the print not sure i'd want one up either, then again i guess it isn't just about what looks pleasing to the eye, if it gets under your skin too it's probably having the desired effect.

IMO the best one Invader has done was that large Rubik Cube, that was very colourful and Vibrant

Jjoschi44, I am aware. But, two things came to my mind whether I would put it up on my walls in the 15seconds before to buy one: -It's not a big one (SIZE = 15.7 X 19.7 Inch - 40x50 cm) -It's a picture of the arrest, whis is open to quite some interpretation. I very much like the mix of quite naive rubiks with this subject. It's a big evolution from his previous ones and very different, but I like it. His next show is "Bad Men - Part I". If you go here: www.galerie-joellenbeck.de/Space%20Invader/spaceinvader2007.htmand then click on "hier" there is a 22pages pdf regarding his new show (certainly the book which is on sale and on page 5 there is a 2D picture of the original)

I'm all for political art - it's one of the main reasons I like Banksy.
Seems that the new Space Invader is already generating a little debate, which is a good thing. If a piece of art evokes emotion and encourages people to investigate issues, it's a winner in my eyes. The Baader Meinhof group (aka RAF) is a really interesting chapter in German left wing post war history and definitely worth reading into. Though they did make use of terrorist tactics to further their message and were allegedly responsible for over 20 killings. I doubt everyone who purchased the print in the last 20 minutes is aware of that. I take the point that it's a picture taken from the arrest of one of the groups key members and can therefore be read either way.
I just find it a pity that these days you have less than a few minutes to consider whether or not you want a piece. Given that I know a little about the Baader Meinhoff history and that I don't actually like the execution of this image, I'm not bothered about this particular work. But I'll admit it gets to me more generally.

I don't know enough about the group to take a political stance on the choice of subject matter. What I can say is that from a purely aesthetic perspective it seems like a dramatic advance by Invader in his ability to achieve sophisticated portraiture using the rubik's cube idiom. It is miles ahead of Alex in terms of composition and execution IMHO. And 7 colour screenprinting is always nice ;D
