It's all about the monies, buddings! I did enter the draw, but to be honest not that bothered I missed out (I know easy to say as I didn't get it) Been discussing it for a while with the missus and the image wasn't for us (again easy to say as we missed out ) BUT and its a big but, who wouldn't want to win something where you can pay £500ish for something thats then worth around £2k the next day, hey £1,500 for nothing? Its hard to enjoy the art but very easy to enjoy the quick buck, for those who were lucky please lets see pic of the framed prints (before they hit the bay :-) )
Monkeyballs, can i ask why you think its the nuts? Just out of interest?
Yes you may. I love the white space as less is so often more. I've got barcode and WSM in eyeshot. The image is basic, loads of white space, simple design and look, both are open to interpretations other than the immediate image and still grab me years on as much as when I first bought them. Donuts has the same effect and feeling to me (admittedly I cannot say how I'll feel about it in 5-6 years, but at the moment it is the same feeling). Ready made classic that I think would sit very well with the other two prints mentioned, which many would agree, are classic Banksy.
Isn't it sad that a print release has created 59 pages of discussion while the 'banksy summer show' thread + the 'banksy summer show -photos' thread have only got 48 when added together. 50(ish) new works by the man, and more people seem to care about one print.
sad sad sad
To be fair, you could use stats another way, 80 pages and 29 threads of single page devoted to the show in the devoted show thread making 109 pages total, but I heed your point.
As a lightener, when was the last time everyone looked on here? It had been ages for me and I pissed myself, always good!
Tough crowd, not a greatest hit but I'd be happy to have this on my wall for sure. Visually very appealing, love the humor it's just missing the slightly more serious undertone that some of his other prints have. Unless you read more into it. But there are other Banksy prints I like less, Nola for one, don't like the rendering of the girls face and the image is slightly cliche.
How much will it sell for, who knows, probably around trolleys price, possibly less? Which I think means you might not find as many of these on the bay as you think. If it were worth many thousands I think more people would be tempted to cash in.
Thanks for the response and also pleased you love the print.! Here's my Banksy history from 03 to today (all brought from source by the way sort of flipping on one/ish:
I to have owned WSM ( I did sell it last year) just really didn't get the print
I also own Happy Choppers which I love, not really sure why, to me the colours/composition and its quite slapstick an army helicopter with a bow its a heavy with the very light heart at the same time.
Also own Queen Vic, I initially brought this as a I liked the controversial aspect then got to understand about the meaning behind the print. Just genius research and it looks great on the wall
Next is the HAND which I have in the downstairs toilet - the same as you brought because it was striking and I also went through the acid days, also remember seeing the original being painted by Mr B on a bridge outside a major police station in islington?
Next is the Monkey Queen - I brought this because I f'ing hate the greedy German Queen ( I hope your not reading this your greedyness! ( not to sure about the look of the print now but taste change, not my opinions by the way)
Could of brought the appaulse and the grannie but passed just not for me!
S&S is another story, we'll talk about that another time!
And last but not least Nola, just brought her to make some cash :-), not really she sits at the top of my stairs and see her every morning and makes me feel lucky!
Gutted I missed the Bar code love it!!!!!!!
I hope everyone that has won/brought today loves there B's as much as I have.
Thankyou Mr B (lotto still a rubbish idea I was good at the Apple R!!!)
southern california - nice - would like to be there today - another song to ease the woes
You should have been around last weekend... I live by the Wedge on Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach and we got a Tahitian swell that resulted in 20-30 foot faces and waves the size of buildings... check it out!!!

Not really a fair assessment as 30 pags of this thread is just richy giddy with anticipation
Plus there are about 50 different threads over on the Banksy museum section. I'm not really surprised by how many pgs this is.

No love down here in Australia Gutted! that first time getting a Banksy from source will one day come! At least this lottery means I have a chance as the F5ing at 4am didn't work for me.
Though I still kick myself for having the signed morons in the cart and letting it go because I thought it was too expensive...tsk tsk

I think it's fair to say that POW are xenophobic. Of the 15 Australians I know that entered, none won.
