sorry for the new thread, don't want anyone interested to miss this info....Just sent a mail out to all guys on the heads up list with all the info (so check that inbox and spam folder!)...reads like this: Hi guys, slight change of plan for the release of the SPQR canvas this Thursday due to unprecedented demand. We are aware that many will have problems with the midday release via "email" for one reason or another..regional crime squad need to borrow your computer that day etc etc.. In order to make sure everyone has a fair and equal shot at purchasing this stunning new work we've decided, after discussions with the artist, to assign each person on the heads up list a number, and we will be using an online "random number generator" to choose the 10 winning numbers one by one. We can customise the generator to the specific number of people in the running so each number returned will be a winner (unless the same number comes up twice, in which case you lose your canvas for being greedy..only joking.you get one but not the other!). If your number is chosen I'll contact you via email individually to notify you of your success, and request further details (and payment) required to complete the purchase. If you have a change of heart then I'll draw another number and pass the available canvas onto the next person. The draw will start on Thursday 24th April at approx. midday UK time. You'll be notified within a few minutes of the draw completion if you've secured one. No confirmation email, then no canvas I'm afraid. To try and add a little excitement to the whole thing for those who can get in front of a computer around midday I will be posting the winning numbers as they are drawn on to the Banksy art forum. If you'd like to know which number you've been allocated so you can see if your number comes up then please reply to this email and ask. its much better than getting a refund and at least you are competing against everyone on an equal playing field, rather than against a robot who gobols everything leaving you with just the sight of a sold out sign, before youve even seen a buy button. good one guys

great idea. the reliability of e-mail was always going to pose some problems with the original plan. i think we've all been in the situation when an e-mail from pow about the latest release has arrived two days after it has sold out.

Yeah this is definatly the way forward. I was gutted to see those Nick Walker prints sell out on the BRP website so quickly. It looked like their website went down then came back up with everything sold - and by looking at ebay a high proportion must have gone to flippers  Also it gives those that dont sit in front of their computer all day a decent shot at getting something nice for their walls  |
