^5 to Grafter for getting out there and actually challenging what stencil art is about over Eastside London these days. He cuts a friggin good stencil and is very imaginative with each piece thats delivered. Grafter has become a very good and valued friend of mine and has worked 100x what some of these big boys ride off. He should be proud of himself.
As for Cartrain..... likes to get up, but half the stencils I have seen have been cribbed from stencils/images online. He still has a lot to learn but there is potential. Good on him in getting out there, the councils do have a problem buffing the spray off leaving 9x out of 10 times a ghost image!
The proof is in the pudding tho ..... good luck to both of them and lets see this charity print that cartrain has promised. Who knows, it might raise millions?!
We who have replied to this thread should be ashamed of ourselves though. Urban art requires a close community where we look after each other, encourage and find new challenges that inspire. Its the galleries and big boys out there who have ruined the community feel by encouraging price wars over art that has been created beacuse the artists likes to paint! Come on, for gods sake, lets stick together for a change!

Does Cartrain sell canvases for £250 - through a 'gallery' - because he 'likes to paint' then?

I would imagine so.... why else would he paint?

Not to make money, then, by jumping on a bandwagon?
Cartrain has been painting walls a long time before Grafter so who are you saying is jumping on the bandwagon savilerogue?
I'm sure that he has, but CancerSell wrote

I'm not taking sides with Grafter - as I said earlier in the thread, I think their work is as weak as each other - but Cartrain's selling woeful canvases @ £250 a pop through a 'gallery' before he's even developed anything of merit. Let's be honest - his main claim to fame is putting up poor stencils next to Banksy's. I'm sure he's a nice guy, but he is part of the problem mentioned by CancerSell - not part of the solution. That's all in my humble opinion of course.

I have always though Cartrain has a great deal of potential. The variety of stuff this kid does shows he means to try, but to grapple with Grafter at this early stage could be a unwise move. Interested to see his 'Masterpiece' on display though.
