GRAFTER - canvas release, by Grafter on Jul 21, 2008 21:48:21 GMT 1, I think there should be some sort of competition to see who can do the best stencilwork sans computer, that would ,I think sort the "artists" from the artists, by the way not having a dig at anyone here!!!
I'm well up for that....Sort the gig out, get 10 others guys to take part and include me at number one.
Saying that, we now have all this great technology at our dissposal, including the type that let's us have this very conversation, and wouldn't it be rather dissmisive of us to not include it in every aspect of our life, including art...?
Cavemen marked the walls with stones 'cos that's all they had. If they'd had a computer they might have used laser etched stencils and sprayed them with watered down stegasaurous s**t.....Who knows...?

GRAFTER - canvas release, by Coach on Jul 21, 2008 22:07:58 GMT 1, My Eskimo Kid is one of my favorite pieces. It hangs opposite where I work next to a Herakut, my other current favorite piece. I couldn't give two fucks how it was created. I know it has taken great creative skill and technical skill to make - I am sure of this from just looking at it. And to see it at Cans was superb too!

GRAFTER - canvas release, by artdivision on Jul 21, 2008 22:26:00 GMT 1, The evolution of digital integration into artwork is a natural progression of the computer age. I see no problem with artists using the computer both to create art and as a tool in the creative process.
Exactly. The computer is just another tool, just like the pen, pencil, paint, etc. I seriously doubt from that stencil that Grafter simply clicks posterize or converts to bitmap. When you do that it REALLY shows.

GRAFTER - canvas release, by junkieart on Jul 21, 2008 22:43:36 GMT 1, Graph! I've had a go and used Illustrator to ensure separate colours. Its very difficult to make seperate plates from PS unless you know channels? Grafter if your using PS to seperate your 2, 3 or 8 coloured prints then wicked, let me know how by pm. (NB like you print btw) i've done a couple of designs which I tend to get printed , but have taken fing time to do in illustrator! Can you really get the high res quality from PS?
Easy JA

Banksy projects his work often onto walls from his Mac. Well he did at Cans anyways.

GRAFTER - canvas release, by pimp on Jul 22, 2008 16:01:38 GMT 1, hello all, back from my ban.
ahh grafter "my last word on the subject...apologies forum members". demonstrating great self control there. just like every cheeseburger and donut you stuff in your gob will be 'the last' no doubt.
for the record, yeah brawling with you would be a laugh, but frankly i'm worried you'll have a heart attack while trying to take a swing at me...
i know you hate me, probably because i point out what you know deep down. that you are a shit, untalented chancer.*
now, quick tip - more time on the treadmill, less time making fucking crap.
*notice i didn't call you an 'artist'. because you aint one, and never will be one either.
oh, and to bigman. i don't want to meet you mate, thanks anyway. you're boring enough on the forum, i dread thinking what you may be like really...

I'm not sure whether "welcome back" or "goodbye" would be more appropriate at this time...

GRAFTER - canvas release, by nacional on Jul 22, 2008 17:05:46 GMT 1, Goodbye pimp, back to the naughty step for you again. You just don't learn do you, you very very silly rude little boy.
I find insults amusing if they are amusing: sadly your fall way short. For example, slip in a few non-English oaths to liven things up. Such as, "de ninguna manera vos sos un fiolo, mejor dicho la concha de la puta que es tu madre..." No that's imaginative, shows intelligence and IS witty.
Try it on for size pimp (le). You see, I did it again....

Sorry but I don't see how calling someone's mother a prostitute is imaginative, intelligent OR witty.

GRAFTER - canvas release, by Martin Whatson on Jul 23, 2008 2:53:04 GMT 1, You shouldnt worry too much about "only" selling 4 pieces the first two days. IMO thats not a sign that its overpriced at all!
What is bad about not selling out the edition in seconds? If it stays for a while it only lets the people that really want a canvas get a chance at buying one!
Its an ok canvas. But far from your best work Grafter. Keep cutting!
