Taken from BBC
Nola (with yellow rain) has been specially created by Banksy for the Cochlear Implant Support society, with the red dot and yellow rain symbolising deafness. The work will be auctioned on 23 April.
It's on the bbc site if any1 wants to have a look

I assume they will be accepting bids by phone / internet if they're not accepting anyone else at the actual auction?

Great piece. love the yellow/green rain and a lovely touch with the red dot on the ear. Inkie is raising money for a good cause and his old bristol mate is helping out. So, how can people slag off the image/colour/red dot. What have you done to help?

I'm a Hearing Healthcare Practitioner located in the U.S. - If anyone can provide some further information I would love to be able to help this cause and possibly donate some digital hearing aids of sorts

Another benefit piece that is a rework of an already conceived piece. Again Mr B is trying to force a new concept into a piece that the concept wasn't designed for. The red dot just doesn't look good and isn't necessary. I'd take this to a restorer and have that red removed if I owned this.
Just donate a piece of artwork, I don't see the need to try and make the art be relevant to the cause, especially when it looks forced.

It serves no purpose in altering an existing artwork to somehow make it fit into the genre. This artwork was created in New Orleans specifically for the Hurricane Katrina victims and is already titled NOLA! What does that have to do with hearing impairment?

So, how can people slag off the image/colour/red dot. What have you done to help? Im not for a second slagging off the idea to raise money for charity, it's a brilliant idea. But IMO visually, the red dot looks weird. If it raises money for charity then great, but this is an art discussion forum and people will talk about the actual art itself.

I'd guess at 20k plus, but who knows these days? Might have to get on the phone, this is sure to be a Banksy classic imo. (and yes I own a Nola, up them estimates ffs hehe). On a side note, Silky why does Banksy come up as miss spelt on on Banksy forum?

Thought you were just talking about the ticket price hlarmy, my confusion. I have no idea if the auction is sold out, but it is a pub so I'd have thought they have a maximum number of people they can let in I am guessing tho. hlarmy it's a fiver to get in and all the proceeds go to charity... even Inkies paying it ;D Cheers Agent; I don't mind the £5 per ticket but was wondering why it was sold out (I presume limited space).
