As I am now concentrating on more freehand work. Just wondered which you prefer out of these two, Stencil or Freehand?
Cheers

Cheers mate Although I am concentrating more on the Freehand, I keep getting drawn back to doing a stencil once in a while. Its good to have a break from the painting and do stencil.
Did one before with the two combined, but needs more developing. But it is definately something that I am going to do. Maybe with a drawn and painted background, then a stencil subject in the peice.
I always get told as an artist you should concentrate in one style. either do Stencils or paints. I don't see why you can't do a bit of both.

Squaller, by crazyarsemother on Jan 14, 2009 9:50:24 GMT 1, Rouke, I prefer the stencil because it is more paint-elly and freer. How ironic. The contrast gives it a bit of bam and helps the eye ditinguish form, from the background. I find the other a bit intense. But you don't need to ask us all this, you know all this stuff already, I am sure. Have you ever done etching or dry points mate? Mix the careful draftsmanship qualities with the hit of repitition. Your tonal work, textures and colour choices are screaming master print maker IMO. I think your based up north somewhere. If you can find a print makers who does stone lithograph you would love it. Its a drawers heaven. Oh god - I miss it so bad.
Looks great though mate. Looking forward to the solo.
