POW SHIT LIST!, by ecb on Dec 15, 2008 1:48:15 GMT 1, If you're truly on their blacklist, you need to find out exactly why. Somebody who has ill will towards you could, or may have, passed false info along to POW causing you to be on the blist. Other than POW's site sayng they can cancel your order for no reason, there is no mention of do's and dont's.
Why dont you post specific reasons why you are blacklisted? Honest question here.
Hi, I've been buying Banksy prints since 2004. I've sold a few, I've swapped many, I've got a lot. I'm on Pictures On Walls s**t List. They will no longer sell to me as I 'move' prints on. Questions are.... 1. Are you on their s**t list? 2. If you swap a print and you are the original buyer and that print gets sold 5 times, your name will be flagged up to POW as the original buyer when subsequent buyers ask for provenance 5 times, so are you a 'serial flipper'? 3. Why did they sell multiple prints to buyers when Banksy was worth 2 bob and now persecute buyers when they sell? 4. Anything else? I know here there are a strong pro POW crowd, who'll see this as a personal attack and will find something my ancestors done in 1266 to make their point, but lets see how this thread goes and hope it doesn't escalate into personal insults. Thanks.

POW SHIT LIST!, by Billy Sport on Dec 15, 2008 1:51:44 GMT 1, its been touched on before, but extending on from POW;
If you bought from a gallery and sold on straight away, what would happen? Would the gallery welcome you back and sell you another piece? or would they tell you where to go?
is this not fundamentally what POW are (allegedly) doing? trying to reduce the amount of work sold to serial flippers? why would there be any difference in these scenarios?

POW SHIT LIST!, by Heavyconsumer on Dec 15, 2008 2:03:23 GMT 1, its been touched on before, but extending on from POW; If you bought from a gallery and sold on straight away, what would happen? Sometimes it's convenient for people to see them as an "online retailer", but they forget that any gallery has responsibilities towards their artist(s) and although those don't change with market conditions, they can/do require different methods of implementation once demand outweighs supply. They are simply trying to put art in the hands of the collectors as best they can, which must be a pretty tall order if we're honest about it....
And stating that they shouldn't choose who they sell to is totally ridiculous! Would a landlord want disruptive or violent customers in his boozer? Would a distributor of goods want large clients buying at a greater discount, only to then target their smaller clients and undercut them, for a smaller profit margin? Of course not! So Why should POW watch idly as people take the piss out of ther customers and make an exploitative buck off their artists' work? It's madness to suggest they should not be selective over who they deal with. They are a gallery as well as a retailer.

POW SHIT LIST!, by ilikekittens on Dec 15, 2008 2:32:14 GMT 1, Surely people trade - it's what humans do to survive - eg. I have a job and I exploit the people/person that pays my wages by inflating what I do to what anyone is prepared to pay me. . .the person that I just bought something from did the same thing to me.

POW SHIT LIST!, by monstris on Dec 15, 2008 3:06:32 GMT 1, I have spoken to a few different people at POW about this and they have always said that the list does not exist, and that they dont block anyone from buying
dude...you are a punter. like most of the people on this board and the other board. you have no greater authority or 'insider' knowledge than anyone else...the lines fed to you by anyone at pow are within their commercial interest.
indeed, this whole board is within their commercial interest no matter how inane / mundane / downright ill-informed, unintelligent and pointless posts here are.
shhh...i know something you don't know...shhh...information...disseminate...shhh
two cents in. that's all folks.

POW SHIT LIST!, by micko on Dec 15, 2008 3:47:15 GMT 1, considering that POW is part of the chain, aren't they ultimately "flippers" themselves? at the base root, they're taking an artists work and reselling it for boat loads more. so, why do so many of you hold them to some sort of higher, god-like authority. they're RETAIL people. get used to it! they should not be condemning anyone for how or what someone does with a print once they rightfully get hold of it, that would highly hypocritical.

POW SHIT LIST!, by cutty on Dec 15, 2008 4:56:24 GMT 1, Why don't POW have a per country policy maybe? 20k on their mail list from the UK, so x% of prints get released to them. Shit I think I am one of maybe 4 people in NZ on their list. Not a very good print % for us.HA! This way prints could be hung worldwide fair play.(I know this would not stop the flippers). And surely there are enough people on here that would help them find the print numbers of the same day flippers on the Bay. Then cancel them..
Cheers

Yes! Godammit you've solved the conspiracy, finally. POW is the problem! Bloody evil flipping bastards! How dare they print and publish Banksy prints and sell them to us at a fraction of the current market value! Quick, tell Banksy what they're up to, send him an email. He'll put an end to it once and for all, I tell thee! I can't believe they duped me into paying so much for my Colour Tolleys! Bastards! And I thought all the money was going to charity! Those bastard, god-like-wannabe, retailing filthmongers! I feel so dirty. Thanks for opening my eyes Micko. It's like I've been blind but now I see the light. I'm angry and relieved and thrilled all at the same time and I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

POW SHIT LIST!, by dmandpenfold on Dec 15, 2008 11:30:44 GMT 1, you guys seem to have short memories, POW no less than 4/5 years ago had a ebay account and encouraged people to flip Some people do have short memories, f uckwits like you just make them up. POW used an ebay account only to sell books and posters, not Banksy prints. And POW have never, ever, "encouraged people to flip".
oh hello ALB nice to see you back.

POW SHIT LIST!, by baileymontana on Dec 15, 2008 12:48:59 GMT 1, So to sum up it seems Flippers feel that they should be able to do what they want with a print bought from POW which embraces the principal of a free market economy. A free market economy also allows POW to decide who to sell their Banksy prints to. In the last year, POW have discriminated against people without internet access, who live near Bethlehem and who could not get to London a few weeks ago, most flippers aren't complaining about this.
POW can do whatever they want and so can Flippers. However, POW don't need Flippers to sell out a Banksy print but Flippers need POW.

POW SHIT LIST!, by loucastel on Dec 15, 2008 13:08:55 GMT 1, If such a list truly exists, it will be interesting to see if the economic situation bites deeper, and and the buyers of art are decimated by cashflow, I think then any list will be torn up and all gallery's print houses will sell to anybody who has the money, purely for their business to survive, at the moment a lot of these establishment have the whip hand, I think if it wasnt for the Banksy phenominum POW would be just another player in the wider market, then I dont think they would be so selective. Economic meltdown, bring it on!!!

POW SHIT LIST!, by baznyc on Dec 15, 2008 14:07:33 GMT 1, If it stops people from buying Banksys only for the purpose of topping up their student grants then it seems a good idea. There are probably 501 good reasons for having a s**t list, but only PoW can really reveal the reasons why. i am either way out, or spot on, but is this a dig at me?
Didn't quite get your point to begin with but the penny has just dropped. I take it you thought I was having a pop because you tried to offload your Bethlehem Flag? No, it wasn't directed at you, but can understand your comment. How about a million and 1 good reasons.

POW SHIT LIST!, by aginghippie on Dec 15, 2008 14:58:46 GMT 1, I'm a hypocrite on this subject. I hate flippers but I end up buying most of my prints from them because I'm fairly unlucky with releases, and I want time to look at a print and decide if I like it. Make no mistake - I'll always try and buy at source but if I miss it at the release then I'll take much longer deciding if I really like it or not.
Stamping out all flippers probably wouldn't help with the bigger name artists because there are still lots more people after their prints than are released. Prices would actually probably rise if true collectors bought the work because they would be far less likely to sell so what was available would get bid up.

POW SHIT LIST!, by micko on Dec 15, 2008 15:53:18 GMT 1, heavy- i bought my Trolleys off ebay, too. and, i paid a small fortune for it. big deal. it is what it is. i like the print. it sits on my wall and it's not for sale. i'm not looking to solve any conspiracy, but rather just point out that we're all in the food chain - POW, too. call it like is - they sell a print, someone buys it. that's as far as that needs to go. what someone does with the print after that is up to them. if POW wants to blackball them for that, then so be it. but until their reasons are standardized and made public, I think it's bullshit and smells of subjectivity and discrimination. some people on this board say you have to hold a print for 2 years, others 1 year before you can resell without persecution. who's right and who's wrong? So, i can buy a Banksy, set it on fire if I want, use it to line a bookshelf, paste it on a city building for anyone to admire, but I can't resell it without suffering the consequences? Nonsense! and, no i'm not stuey.

POW SHIT LIST!, by Existencil on Dec 15, 2008 15:54:01 GMT 1, There are a couple of listings on Ebay that make me laugh. Both are from the same seller - A VLH and a Bethlehem. He managed to win both of them and he's managing to sell both of them!
Also, somebody said on here recently that all three people in the same house managed to win a VLH. How the blazes does that happen??
Surely these are inside jobs.
I know I've flipped a bit, but jeez.
