Firstly i would like to apologise to admin as i have already posted this thread under the HMV print section but i feel it may be more suited to here on reflection.- please feel free to delete the other one. I have been looking around today when i was just surfing and discovered that signed prints seem to have gone up a bit in price since i bought mine for £150 a few years ago. Having done some reading on this site and elsewhere i have found some things out with regards to the different numbering/runs. I have an HMV signed in pencil and numbered 23/150 (both in the bottom right hand corner of the print). However i do not think that my print contains an embossed stamp from POW where it was bought in late 2003. It also does not contain any banksy 'tag' in either red or white. My question is how much should i insure this for and how much is it actually worth. Also if i can not find the receipt do u know if POW keep a record of the prints they sell and will be able to issue me wiht a replacement receipt? Many thanks in advance.

Hi mate, difficult top give a valuation on any Banksy prints at the mo, prices are fluctuating wildly. HMV went for around 500 last month, but could hit 1000 this week over on ebay. Barcode went for 800 last week and 1800 this week, doesn't mean to say that all our barcodes are now worth 1800 though. Insure it for minimum 1250-1500 sterling which is what it'd probably cost to replace it from a recognised gallery dealer. No stress regarding the tag or POW stamp for valuation, but I guess if two were on offer people would prefer the 'with', then again, the without were the earlier ones and yours is a very low number, so maybe it's more desirable. Depends who's buying I guess. POW do keep a database of all their sales on file. They'll probably tell you who owns it and maybe help you out if you are the original owner, probably not if it's sold on, this would be due to the risk of people using the new receipt to validate possible backdoor prints. Hope that helps ;D

Cheers for the info mate:
I appreciate that it must be hard to value prints at the mo but that sounds like a price to insure it at. (I did much searching around before i posted here trying to find a dealer that had it for sale but with no luck!
As for the stamp etc - i am the original owner so i will contact POW (was actually a 21st b'day present from my bro and sis- Best present i have ever had- it takes pride of place abocve my turntables)
Cheers
Graham

I'd say it'd definitely be worth around £2k at the moment.
You have to assume the signed prints will be at least double the unsigned.
Also, I doubt that any of the signed HMVs were stamped. I wouldn't hassle POW unless you're planning to sell it right now. Let's face it, you know it's genuine, and you'll be able to confirm that in fhe future if you ever did sell it.

yeah it is signed. I thought that when you said £1250 to £1500 it may be a bit low as i have seen unsigned prints that were available when i bought mine (same amount printed etc) at some gallery (it is in the links page i think! and they were for £950- but as i am not as in touch with the prices as u guys are i thought it best not to argue! lol Anyway i phoned POW and they dont issue receipts but they told me that i am recorded on the database so i can always prove its genuine if (and it is not ever going to happen) i want to sell it. Thanks for your help guys- it is appreciated

When you're in a main board with the thread titles showing, look up at the top just above where it says "last post". There's a little bit that says "new thread". Do the clicky thing on it.
