LAZ = FUCKING JOKE, by rob123rob on Sept 19, 2007 22:34:50 GMT 1, ive already said this in another thread, but maybe it would be appropriate for Laz to take on the Faile approach to their last refund debacle: an apology print, a special edition for those who got screwed around with. I know that in this situation it would be hard to prove that you were one in line who got screwed, but I think something along these lines is in order.....

LAZ = FUCKING JOKE, by dotdot on Sept 19, 2007 22:35:28 GMT 1, Sad.... no -bad story from all I've read on this so far - and it was a lot. I'm glad I didn't go - well.. my other half did stolenspace - that was a mess. I did Neate - well we know that wasn't to great queue wise... and now today we have a CAR CRASH of a story.
Let me get this straight Laz was at the Neate show - he couldnt really have missed the queue. Learning how to do/manage these things is part of the deal from what I've seen.
Failing to address such little fundamental issues will only lead to friction - in a punk sense.
A riot today would have been .. well unusual.
How much would it have taken eh ?
Do we have any similarity between SL and one Malcolm McLaren ... ? you may think not - then think again - this situation could be seen to be being massaged gently and controlled.
A riot would have got in the paper - i don't think it was warranted - but it could easiliy have happened - the security staff were obviously primed for trouble and dealt with it -- in a manner of speaking albeit winding up the queue and exacerbating the sitation at the sametime.
Sorry to all who went along - am sure santas ghetto this year will not be taken too seriously - esp by folks 'burned' by this year's batch of bad queue experiences / experiments.

Even if they sell for cost on the bay. If I had one of these on my wall all i'd think about would be the scum that flips... I feel all forum members should boycott these prints on the bay.

LAZ = FUCKING JOKE, by verbalkint on Sept 20, 2007 0:41:45 GMT 1, Hey carlito
Do you remember the Neate show (obviously you fucking remember it!! What a stupid question) I thought that was a bitch, waiting in a queue that didnt move for hours, but at least everyone there got 3 prints each and the next day when it was open to everyone, they gave out tickets so you could look through the gallery and not have to queue and they had the good sense to lower it to one per person.
As everyone who was there knows, the result of this bit of organization was that by the time the 2nd day queue had gone completely, there were still about 20 prints left, so everyone who spent any time, or gave up any time to queue for a print got at least one.
I know the manager at LAZ really well, every time i am in london i pop in and we talk bollocks for 30 minutes, he is a good bloke, but its rare to meet ANYONE who is on the inside looking out who has any empathy at all for the people waiting hours in line. Everyone knows steve laz is a cock, a huge big fat throbbing gristle of a cock, but it is so easy to think fuck em, when you know for a fact that weather you give out refreshments, give out tickets, maintain order and security or weather you just have a huge lawless free for all, you are still going to sell every last stinking print.
And the really sad thing is that even if steve laz had come down when the last print had sold, got a microphone and amp and declared 'Im sorry to all you mugs who have given up your time, but i have decided to keep 60 sets back for friends and good customers, so you arnt going to get shit, i know this isnt fair, but i look down on every single one of you and dont give a toss what you think, by the way...... we are releasing 4 more prints next wednesday, same price, same edition numbers' then everyone would still be there
Its a bastard that LAZ is a huge big throbbing cock because he does have a really good roster, and i know that if i buy anything from LAZ or POW then a good chunk of my cash is going to him, but ho hum
Im just glad that laz ant got Ian Francis and Adam Neate. That would be terrible
anyway, sorry for the rant, and carlito, dont worry man, you will get one on ebay for ยฃ800 within 2 weeks, there are already way too many on there

LAZ = FUCKING JOKE, by douknowawhiskysnob on Sept 20, 2007 11:45:10 GMT 1, to all those who drove today - a gentle reminder - incase westminster council didnt rob you of enough parking charges - DONT FORGET TO PAY YOUR CONGESTION CHARGE! WWW.CCLONDON.COM
'blacksy' you are a star for reminding me that I hadn't paid the congestion charge - all paid now and a +1 to you for saving me a ยฃ50/60 fine! If I meet you along the path of life, the first few rounds of drinks are on me.
To add my five cents worth to the whole debacle of yesterday's print release at Lazinc (sorry, it's a bit of a long one!)...
I joined the queue dead on 6am and even though there were a sizeable number of people ahead of me (a headcount at 6.30am pitched the queue at around 130 people in front of me) I was very excited to be within a few hours of being able to purchase my first Micallef print at a semi-reasonable price.
Like all those that have posted before, I queued for 10 hours, receiving very mixed information throughout the day from both the permanent staff at Lazinc and those that had been hired just to help for the day. I saw people join the queue in front of me at various points throughout the day (this generally started off by them chatting to their friends and then they were still there 1, 2, 3 hours later and had become part of 'the queue') - I could have objected and asked them to go to the back of the queue, but as somebody else posted earlier, I would have done this in fear of being told 'where to go' by a group of people (I was there on my own) and the possibility of a fracas starting (with me possibly getting ejected from the queue for starting trouble), so I chose not to say anything and keep my fingers crossed that I would still be lucky enough to get a print.
So it is accurate to say that I was extremely dissapointed to get within touching distance of the door at a few minutes before 4pm to be told that my standing in the queue for 10 hours in the rain/cold, on a road stenching of urine, with fights breaking out, people frequently pushing into the queue and family's purchasing 4 sets of prints (come on Lazinc, surely the staff serving in the gallery or the gallery manager should have realised that children with ยฃ4,700 in cash asking for 4 Micallef prints was a little strange?) had been in vain.
In the grand scheme of things, this is not and should not be considered a big deal (what Mugabe's doing to the people / country of Zimbabwe should worry us all a lot more) - but when people take a whole day out of their lives and spend it standing on a street to spend a lot of money buying something, it should be a pre-requisite for the business selling the goods to consider their customers and organise the way in which the sale is conducted in a professional manner - Lazinc spectacularly failed to do this yesterday.
My personal view is that a ticketing system should be adopted for future releases - a member of the gallery starts the day early (say 6am) and distributes tickets to those in the queue at hourly intervals and people standing in the queues with their family (this should include wives, husbands, partners, children) should only be given one ticket (there is no justification other than greed for a family buying more than one (this can be one set) of what is being sold) - although this is not a full-proof solution (I don't know if there is a full-proof solution other than there being an army of security guards that barricade the street off and marshal the line from 5pm the day before until the point of the final sale) but surely this simple solution would work better and be fairer on genuine customers than what happened yesterday?
** As an after thought - I couldn't help thinking whilst standing in the queue yesterday that it was good publicity for Lazinc to have a long queue snaking down the road outside its gallery from 6am until late afternoon all day yesterday, so although there were 150 odd fairly aggrieved people trying to buy the art they were selling, there were thousands of people walking past wondering / asking what all the commotion was (I personally got asked on two occassions what I was doing) and thus the word of Micallef and the Lazinc gallery was spreading even further - I'm not saying that Lazinc treated the people in the queue the way they did purely for publicity reasons, but it doesn't seem too far out of the realms of possibility **
Oh, and for all those genuine fans of Micallef's work that were just in front of me in the queue (I counted around 20-25 people at 4pm when the 'no more' announcement was made) and those behind me that missed out yesterday, my feelings go out to you - I was genuinely dissapointed yesterday so I know how you all felt / are still feeling as well.

LAZ = FUCKING JOKE, by manchestermike on Sept 20, 2007 12:12:58 GMT 1, Carlito - sorry about your day and thank you again for offering to get me two of the prints. I'd have been seriously fucked off if I had come down from Manchester for that (which I would have done if I was in the UK)... Appalling business from Laz, alienating a lot of people by the sounds of it, including people who have previously spent a lot of money with him.
I can't speak too much about it as I wasn't there but I know it'll make me think twice before bothering with Laz again...
For everyone that queued and didn't get one I'm sorry your day was such a write off, for those who took family and kids (obviously who should have been at school) with them to get prints... I really hope you feel satisfied with yourselves you utter c**t

For everyone that queued and didn't get one I'm sorry your day was such a write off, for those who took family and kids (obviously who should have been at school) with them to get prints... I really hope you feel satisfied with yourselves you utter c**t

LAZ = FUCKING JOKE, by jonpud on Sept 20, 2007 16:11:37 GMT 1, I'm home from 10 and a half hours in the queue....I was there at 5:30am...and have come away with NOTHING... biggest pile of s**t of a set-up I've ever had the misfortune to be involved with... we counted where we were in the queue once the doors opened approx 130th therefore a good 50 within the number we needed to worry about...by the time I got to the front all sold out... misinformation after misinformation..f**king joke ALSO FAT LITTLE BLOKE WHO BROUGHT HIS TWO SONS, DAUGHTER, WIFE etc etc AND PROCEEDED TO GET 4 PRINTS PER PERSON IF I SEE YOU AT ANOTHER OPENING I'LL TELL YOU EXACTLY WHAT I THINK OF YOU TIRED PISSED OFF f**kED OFF WITH THIS SCENE - SORRY MIKE MATE GUTTED I COULDN'T YOU SOME PRINTS TOO... First chance I have had to get on the forum since yesterday, there is no point in me repeating everything else that has been said, I trvelled 300 miles in total, I stood in the Q from 630(ish) until 4pm, I missed the POW release, I only wanted ONE print and got fuck all!!
I was willing to stand there until the end but something happened which FUCKED me off so much that I decided to FUCK off myself. Carlito mentioned the fat CUNT who went in with his 'family' Well I was taking a break for 20 mins from the Q (Thanks to the guy who held my place) as i was busting for a piss, on my return some woman and 3 teenage kids JOINED the bloke in the Q. They all went into LAZ together and walked out with 20 ( YES FUCKING TWENTY ) prints!! What a cunt!! I swear that finished me for the day and hence the reason I left.
Photo's below show the fat t**t for all to see!!
Sorry Carlito mate, feel for you as I know what it's like!! I will NOT be supporting any of those wankers on EBAY I can easily live without the art on my wall as much as I would like a copy of Peace Keeper!!! They aint getting my hard earned!!
Sorry if people want to move on from this but I have never been so pissed off at such a poorly organised event in my life, laugh all the way to the bank Steve Laz, cuz you shit on your faithfull from a great height this time mate!!!!!!!

LAZ = FUCKING JOKE, by phat planet on Sept 20, 2007 16:23:17 GMT 1, I saw these guys!! This was about 4pm.
There were 7 of them in total including a homeless man you can limping in one of those photos, they walked down Greek street together they had 32 tubes between all in the same car.
I got to the line in black cab mind you (how the fuck else to you get to Greek street)... at 6am... fuck if I was going to get out of bed any earlier for 1/400 print. I'm a fucking big AM fan but I got better things to do in London than stand on Greek street all night.
When i arrived I had mind enough to get out my black cab in Soho square.. Walked down Greek street saw the core of 60 people standing outside LAZ thought SWEET!! got to the arch then saw the other 400 plonkers and said fuck that. only wanted a peace keeper so no chance of that.
Went back to the hotel saw the POW prints pop up, what a print thank you very much!! though they did charge me twice due to the proxy fuck up and have not refunded me yet!! so all swings and round about!!
Felt great to be winner and loved being involved all though the fat cunt with the 32 tubes will get a slap if shows his head at another opening I'm at.
GREAT PHOTOS!!

LAZ = FUCKING JOKE, by rob123rob on Sept 20, 2007 16:32:51 GMT 1, Im sure you won't get an apology from Steve, but to all those emailed complaints into him regarding this whole mess, don't you think it would be nice, in the least, for him to send out signed/numbered copies of the "new" edition of Micallef's book? Sure, it's not a print, but they already have the books printed up, just get em signed, and there is a tiny sorry and thank you to those who experienced the mess of that day.

LAZ = FUCKING JOKE, by doughy on Sept 20, 2007 16:35:50 GMT 1, +1 Carlito, agree with you and the others totally!
Steve Lazarides et al need to seriously think about future releases if they want any more Porsche Cayennes, as this whole disaster of a release may cost them big time.
There is only one way to stop this crap happeneing, boyoctt POW & LAZinc.
It doesn't take a genius (or perhaps it does) to see a family with yound lads are together and cornering a small part of the market.
Lazinc. need to grow brains and a conscience to stop this crap happening again. Better line patrol and due diligence are needed, learn guys and gals of Laz.
