Vol. 4: Rourke Van Dal, by Rourke on Dec 28, 2007 21:57:01 GMT 1, When did art become your chosen path Rourke?
Cheers Top ;D
Since I can remember really, I have always drawn. My earliest memory probley is drawing xmas cards when I was 4 or 5. I have always drawn guns and soldiers since I was about 8. I always used to draw in pencil. I started to use paint when I was about 16 - 17, so when my friends were down the pub, I was sat at home painting pictures, mainly landscapes. (S@d B@$tarD) ;D
I was 17 - 18 when I got a job in Graphic Design. Which then led me into t-shirts and designing them. So I was producing Stencil Artwork. Which then led me into doing icons as stencils about 6 - 7 years ago. But then every body was doing them so I needed to look for something different. It was through Jamie Hewlett that I got into the banksy scene. The only graffiti I had ever done was on the estate where I grewup when I was a teenager. Has I got more and more into the scene, inspired by artist after artist I discovered an art form that I never knew existed and realised this is what I had been looking for. Art with true meaning, humour, art that could make a difference and I could really use my imagination.
Sorry for goin on a bit

Vol. 4: Rourke Van Dal, by Rourke on Dec 30, 2007 21:58:33 GMT 1, Hey rourke, most of your work is war based content, any plans to release other interests and influences of your art?
Aright aj, hows it goin. I have plans for a variety of subjects in the future, more terrace houses, and council flats with a northern theme, also I will be doing the 'skins collection' with a selection of true to life images from Photographer Gavin Watson as paints. His images are very simalar to the film 'This is England'. Skinheads, council estates ect. in the 1980's.
I havent done all war images in the past I like to do a mixture, I think iits more interesting. I try and do images which reflect global issues, and will continue to do so in the future. I will be putting more images on the website in the new year.
I also want to do some more toony characters, like the 'Scallywag' and 'Blast' images. ;D
Cheers

Cheers mate, havent bought much art in the last few years. But hope to in 2008. and 1 of yours in on my list, Have you done the website yet?
Anyway when I was after a 'kid' I missed out on a few of them, befor I got 1. A few times I thought of images and actually done images, which later have found out that someone has already done them. I did 'che trooper - ' then found out that Urban Medium had already done 1. If there is one thing I am its honest, and I never saw their version before I started mine. Or else I would never have done it
Can't really say anymore, but there was a 1 more that I got piped to the post with.
