Graffle 2, by hlarmy on Jul 18, 2008 8:08:23 GMT 1, Cracking show; Dom's taken things to a whole new level. Lots of impressive art, huge pieces by a range of artists from the unknown (to me!) to the likes of Herakut, Ian Francis (the stand out piece for me), SPQR, Eelus, Miss Bugs etc etc.
Go and check it out; you won't be disappointed. There's going to be some very happy winners in September!

Graffle 2, by Agent Provocateur on Jul 18, 2008 10:20:30 GMT 1, Sorry no pictures, but my god what a great selection of work!
The stand out piece for me (and my gf) was the 'Matt Small' portrait on wood... stunning!!
Then came a new name for me, Pam Grew, and her two pieces ran Matt's very close for top spot, her larger piece that is in the auction was f*****g amazing !!!!
Following very closely to Pam's work was a iddy-biddy Guy Denning portrait, simple, rich and textured. Fantastic .
We both really like the 6:10 canvas, Christ shaving, mucho better seeing it in the flesh than on my comp screen.
There was a minature C215 there, a portrait of a lady on cardboard, not one of his finest but I wouldn't kick it out of bed for farting .
Ahhh, the Eelus canvas, now that was huge, bold and dynamic! A distorted rodeo rider on a distorted horse bucking about yellow and green triangles... think it may have been 8 to 10 foot sqaure!!!! Wtf .
Then we get onto the Miss Bugs, mmmm, not entirely sure what's going on there. Two tiger faces (stencil type effect but looked painted) in black and white and a lot of dribbles plus a red heart under one eye. I seem to remember they said in an interview they were going to try and stay away from cartoon characters... so maybe this is their new direction! I am not entirely convinced .
Hope that's teased a few people, sorry no pics.
Can I win the Matt Small please Dom ;D AP
ps ahhh and the best part of the evening was the blank canvas near the door, I had a quick chat with Pupster and we wondered what was going on with it... then the Art Tart and her glamorous assistant rocked in and did a live stencil session. They were fantastic, the Art Tart especially as she allowed all her male fans have photos taken with her... she even let some people shake her cans!!!!

Graffle 2, by felix on Jul 18, 2008 12:28:50 GMT 1, Wow at the Herakut (and pretty much all the artwork) but WTF to Rosie Poopay, do you get to sleep with her as a consolation prize?
Great event and to a great cause.

Graffle 2, by robinbanks on Jul 18, 2008 12:44:23 GMT 1, I honestly thought the mediocre far outweighed the good, but maybe that's because I'm not a fan of all of the artists work anyway.
Saying that I did think their were some incredible pieces - Herakut and Eelus stealing the show with Matt Small, Ian Francis and SPQR pushing them close.
I was slightly disappointed with the Nick Walker. After hearing he was involved this year I was expecting something really special and new, and although it was nice it felt more like an old piece from his back collection.
Now I know we're not supposed to be slating artists or galleries anymore, but I really would like someone to tell me what Dr. D was doing in such esteemed company? Quite honestly I thought it was a real piece of crap and had no right whatsoever to be there, and I don't say that lightly.

There is def some good pieces among them and for a tener I think it's great idea, great fun plus the profits go to charity and you may end up with a nice original piece of art. even I splashed out on a couple of tickets!

It's there. One of the nicest pieces too. I disagree with robinbanks on the Dr.D. I thought it was the best piece from her that I have seen so far. Quite liked it.
Unfortunately the best/biggest pieces are for auction and not part of the raffle. That being Herakut, Eelus, Beejoir and others.
Pleasure meeting you too Pupster.

That's slightly disappointing if that's true! I hope they'll be giving a rundown on the site of what's in the raffle, at the moment they make it sound like everything is!

I believe there were only 5 (max 6) pieces that are not in the raffle, but are being auctioned off at the end of the year. It's a shame they're not in the raffle but (1) they're huge and wouldn't fit through the average person's front door and (2) the whole point is to raise money and this will no doubt add an extra £20k onto the bottom line.

Graffle 2, by Dellboyy on Jul 18, 2008 14:22:03 GMT 1, I completely understand why they're doing it, and at the end of the day they should do whatever is going to raise the most money for charity! It's just from a purely selfish point of view, the only chance i'm ever going to get of owning an ian francis original is going from very very little to none! ;D
