introducing the work of LAURA LEE, by Ad Hoc Art on Jun 3, 2008 20:35:28 GMT 1, introducing the work of LAURA LEE
Laura Lee is a NYC based artist who has recently decided to make a small number of her pieces available through Ad Hoc Art. We had curated her into a group show a few months ago and it was the first thing to sell from the show. Right after that I started getting inquiries on how someone could go about purchasing her unique artworks. Below is a little BIO which explains a bit about who she is and why she does what she does as an artist. I think her work is important and I am proud to be making it available for the first time through a commercial gallery here in NYC. PM with any questions. Here is a link to view available works:

"Each page is a different vignette expressing a particular idea or emotion. Some pieces turned out just like how I saw them in my head…some were happy accidents…and then some just seemed like a good idea at the time. But to me they all blend together into one narrative that is, pretty much, my life…
I only started sharing this artwork with people outside my close friends and family in 2005, and it surprised me how much other people seemed to really relate to them. Because to me each piece is so personal and introspective, I really just make them for myself…in my effort to better understand the world through better understanding myself…to document the little instances that inspire me…to express my undiluted thoughts right from my heart and my gut as truthfully as possible…you know, the usual… "

I thought that too.... I'm pretty sure Pez is the one who discovered LL on here a while ago (if "discover" is the right word). I remember looking at her site and a lot of the work seemed to be quite self-portrait/biographically based (or she herself seemed to be the main character in a lot of the pieces). That Pez certainly seems to have an eye for unusual but very nice art. Has he quit .info? Not seen a post from him in some time now....
EDIT: should have read Ad Hoc's full post first..."...but to me they all blend together into one narrative that is, pretty much, my life…"

introducing the work of LAURA LEE, by streetgirl on Jun 4, 2008 8:35:33 GMT 1, Yeah, vaguely remember Pez having one an LL print.
Very nice though - very nice indeed a couple I could see on my walls, that is were it not for the burning hole in my pockets.
