Damien Hirst • Where the Land Meets the Sea, by jerryjerry on Aug 17, 2023 15:12:39 GMT 1, Higher than most think due to the nature of the release, 3 x 4 prints. More people may be inclined to go 'all in' and purchase the 4 in each series, rather than the 8 of the virtues for instance. Something they have adapted from previous editions?

Damien Hirst • Where the Land Meets the Sea, by Poster Bob on Aug 17, 2023 15:36:24 GMT 1, People still continue to think that low edition sizes correspond to higher values. This is dependent upon image quality, and in the case of times releases, low editions are driven by low demand due to poor images. Ask yourselves, how often do you see wanted threads for a signed Toxic Mary as opposed to a Banksquiat? Why do you think that is?

Ask yourselves, how often do you see wanted threads for a signed Toxic Mary as opposed to a Banksquiat? Why do you think that is? beside that, I think in this particular case other factor drove the demand.
1- not the best time to do a release; most people are on vacation and summer time is not the best time to buy art.
2- The Art Market is in a difficult stage (bear market).
3- edition size of the empresses (2000 pieces per print) teach that hype beats taste.
My opinion on this release is that in 2 years WLMS will be much desired than Blossom.
Edition size will determinate an increase in prices.

I would call before sending them down.

Damien Hirst • Where the Land Meets the Sea, by cryptoowly on Aug 17, 2023 16:16:50 GMT 1, Totally agree with this. There is clearly a lot more going on that will impact demand than just image quality. Also not sure what you mean by 'image quality'. I think the images are actually quite good and it's dibond so whilst there are pros and cons for that medium, the quality, defined as a means of reproducing the underlying image, is clearly excellent.

Damien Hirst • Where the Land Meets the Sea, by baal on Aug 18, 2023 18:19:11 GMT 1, So am I the only one who thinks it's ridiculous that he is selling, and people are buying, prints of his studio floor? Hirst would agree it's ridiculous. That's part of the point. If the point is to be 'ridiculous', what does that say about the people who buy them? Especially the ones who bought the posters.

What's wrong with the posters? Cheap and signed on the front with a pretty coloured pen, not on the back with a boringly coloured black pen

Everybody not thinking like me is wrong.

Damien Hirst • Where the Land Meets the Sea, by Acme Thunderer on Aug 18, 2023 19:28:45 GMT 1, I always considered exhibition posters (such as these) to be a memento / keepsake of visiting an exhibition / event.
I never went in the end so I would never want one. If you went and liked it, then great.
If you only went to the exhibition to buy and flip a £50 poster then that is really quite pathetic and you need to get a life (or job). I bet a lot of people went straight up to the desk to buy before (if at all) looking at the artwork in the exhibition.
It is just sad there has been so much discussion purely about a very average and unappealing signed poster rather than the shiny dibond or giant canvases that wouldn’t fit in 99.9% of members homes.
I am glad the exhibition has ended so all talk about f*ck!n posters can hopefully f*ck!n end!

I wouldn't hazard a guess, especially with an unknown edition size. I'm confident that initially they won't be worth less than they cost. In a while, and it will be a while before I consider selling mine, they might be worth more than they cost. We've seen some Heni Hirst open editions go up by a few £100, and some by a few £1,000 - these could be either - I'd expect the former initially, and the latter eventually.

I get that it’s frustrating at times, and sometimes can take away and distract from more meaningful discussions surrounding an exhibition. However, for a lot of people, entry level posters are sometimes the only way to acquire affordable pieces by artists they admire. I for one, can’t afford any of Hirts releases so this is an opportunity for me to get a signed piece by him.

To me it's just that this thread is only 14 pages and 1/2+ of it is about posters and their availability and quantity released. And yes: that doesn't say anything good about the (so called) prints
robo nothing wrong with being ridiculous either: but these pretend to be serious paintings. Ridiculousness/ humour is not their concern. They're not tongue in cheek. Hirst just isn't a good painter, only a good artist and a brilliant businessman
