So you didn't get a Banksy at GDP..., by jakek on Oct 16, 2019 22:44:04 GMT 1, Well GDP was fun wasn't it? It got me back on here for the first time in years (good to see a few familiar names, the old jokes, and the standard trolling).
I've tried my luck for something and we'll see if I get lucky but i'm not holding my breath.
So i thought i'd start a thread for people to suggest a few ways to get over the inevitable disappointment and spend all that "art cash" they had allocated. (I'm guessing it'll be busier when we all know we've missed out!)
Whatever you were going to spend there's plenty of bloody great art out there...
Start off by doing something worthy. The Choose.Love site is filled with life changing products to help refugees and very much in line with some of the big issues raised in the GDP.

I don't know if anything's changed around here but it was always a case that photography never got much love.
I think Martin Parr is one of the country's greatest photographers and signing up to the foundation is a great way to get a signed print for a good price. ยฃ120 for a membership with a free print...
Remember the important things in life with Mr. Bingo for ยฃ32
And put things in to perspective with Dave Buonaguidi for ยฃ50
(and if you're on instagram and don't follow him @realhackneydave you're missing out)
and those are all small enough to frame for some loose change too...

As Fragile just posted on Instagram, remember there's a hi-res flower thrower image on the legals page at GDP. So you can always print that off and frame that - to be honest the framing on that one is better than anything most people could achieve!
And as another reminder with all that lovely unspent "Banksy cash" there's plenty of great affordable art around, go off and find that.
Or even just a fraction of the cash could be put towards some life changing "stuff" over on choose.love to support the causes that Banksy was raising the profile of at GDP.
