Banksy FLOWERS Print, Gross Domestic Product , by revbeard on Nov 18, 2020 10:10:29 GMT 1, Hi all,
I have a framed ‘Flower Thrower’. I’m a Croydon local and got it from the GDP shop on the last day. 2 questions -
What’s the current going rate for one?
How best do I prove the provenance?
Cheers

1) Have a look on eBay. Perhaps £2-£4K? 2) You can’t. Any buyer will want hi res photos as a minimum.

Banksy FLOWERS Print, Gross Domestic Product , by trap door on Jan 14, 2021 17:14:03 GMT 1, Hello Forum, Thought it’s time I showed you all how stunning these GDP pictures can look. My wife and I collected a Flowers image each on the final afternoon of the Croydon pop-up (two calendar years ago!) grabbing a wrapping paper tube from Poundland to keep them out of the wind and rain (plastic chairs were flying down the tramlines!) I run a framers so took time looking at options to get these looking their best, in the end settled on a close copy as per GDP framing instructions with the Thrower triptych. We weren’t particularly happy looking at the cockled paper as a piece of art on the wall so took a risk and had one restored by a trusted paper restorer. First up she tested the ink’s reaction to water (all ok) and proceeded to flatten the paper with several passes using humidification and compression. Result was fine! The embossing is completely gone from the verso (which we were warned about beforehand) but was something we were prepared to lose for a flawlessly flat print. In my opinion the graphic is enhanced, black and rich, and brings out the spray. What do people think?

Banksy FLOWERS Print, Gross Domestic Product , by inefficiencyof on Jan 14, 2021 17:17:41 GMT 1, Looks amazing, really beautifully restored with a lovely framing job. I just hope people don’t take the fact that the embossing (and now lack of) was seen as provenance as a negative factor. Congrats 🙌🏻

Looks good
I am quite happy with them as they were, but that's just me
Do be careful of the framing, these things really yellow, and if your not careful you'll have a massive discolour issue between what you can see of the print and what's in the frame.
You'll thank me in a few years

Banksy FLOWERS Print, Gross Domestic Product , by avec art on Jan 14, 2021 17:45:28 GMT 1, It's personal choice, both before and after have merits. I think @runt is right about the potential of yellowing and and a contrast where it has been hidden from the light. Framed this way it can't be avoided. To have a consistent degree of yellowing/fade throughout the print you'll need to have them float mounted.

i'd say good choice as long as you don't ever plan to sell.

It’s a shame as it’s nice to crop it a bit so the arm goes off into the frame as it were (like the original).
Is it even possible to float mount these given how light the paper is? Won’t you see the tape?
@trapdoor any chance of seeing the full frame job? Looks great!

Banksy FLOWERS Print, Gross Domestic Product , by Woodey1001 on Jan 14, 2021 18:51:26 GMT 1, These are all trash. It's not even a complete thrower image, let alone printed on anything archival. Forget any authenticity. Ever. So easily faked.
Sick of seeing these 🤮 and people being tricked into buying them.
Bad art to cherish in anyway for so many reasons.

The guy got it from the Croydon show, wanted to frame it. what's your issue with that?
show me how easy to fake, bet £100 to charity you can't produce one
People being tricked into buying? 'Shit I thought it was a lamb chop and when I got home.....'
You can't think of one reason why people that went to this show woudn't want to keep it?
If your happy and you know it clap your hands...

It's a simple screen print on the cheapest paper money can buy. Nothing is easier to fake than these.
They are trash art, and intended to hit the bin pretty quickly. Not worth cherishing. Throw it away.

Sad you can't speak better than lame references to children's nursery rhymes. Each to their own 🤷

I do prefer the wrinkles but I really like what you've done here. Good for you.

Banksy FLOWERS Print, Gross Domestic Product , by tab1 on Jan 14, 2021 20:08:24 GMT 1, . Just reprinted it ha. .
This was funny
But in all seriousness a nice result and sits much better in the frame .
There will be a few that will question the authenticity in the future , but as a keep sake and memory totally your choice .
As these were not damaged when produced and the paper used sets as of the printing technique used many collectors like to collect items in original format as originally produced
