Art Galleries V Auction Houses, by Daniel Silk on Jul 18, 2019 22:20:39 GMT 1, Art Galleries V Auction Houses. Is it all becoming a bit of a blur these days? I mean auction houses starting to hold art shows and sell art at set prices rather than auction. I just wonder if the galleries are nervous? Could the next step be the galleries doing some type of auction setup?

Art Galleries V Auction Houses, by irl1 on Jul 18, 2019 22:46:26 GMT 1, I know a lot of people complain about Galleries but the overheads keeping one open are huge. Its a good idea for a Gallery to run one every now and then even if its only online. They can do the viewing at the Gallery at no extra cost and then use invaluable etc for the auction, no need for an in-house auction. It makes sense to get a bit of extra income in, but what would i know.
Maybe there are pitfalls doing this, would be nice to see what the Galleries on here have to say.

Art Galleries V Auction Houses, by Daniel Silk on Jul 18, 2019 23:00:01 GMT 1, Yeah, might be a way of some galleries moving on old stock, every 6 month have an auction, starting price is the cost value.
