Lollipoppy - REMEMBER, by Rourke on Nov 7, 2007 8:46:44 GMT 1, Don't forget to spare a thought or moment this Sunday, for those who have served and those serving.
Forgotton Heros They did their bit, we should do ours
I love this piece, its very close to my heart. Its about the fellers who fought for King, Queen, Country and Goverments. Then when all is over, or they are wounded and maimed, they are forgotton about. When they wanted help from them who sent them to war, they have had the door shut in their face. I think its discusting
A big inspiration in my life is โmy old manโ. Heโs 82, he joined up when he was 17 under age, to fight for his country. Some thing that woudnt happen in todays society. (Respect as gone out the window, if ya get me drift) Worked very hard all his life, has nowt but is memories and stories. Which he loves to tell and I love to hear, they are inspiring
I think the Royal British Legion isnโt harped on about enough and some people just donโt know exactly what they do. Unlike governments, they donโt shut the door in the faces of Heros. It provides financial, social and emotional support to millions who have served and are currently serving in the Armed Forces, and their dependants.
I've put a poppy on a couple of my peices 'Silent Guns' and 'Lollipoppy' and will continue to do so, as a mark of remembrance.

Lollipoppy - REMEMBER, by nickc on Nov 7, 2007 12:17:00 GMT 1, Couldn't agree more. Every year I wear my poppy with pride and make a point of watching the service from the Cenotaph. It always makes me wonder why other people don't go out there and stick a pound or two in the collection box at this time of year or, even better, set up a standing order to the British Legion. Even ยฃ10 a month can make a big difference. + 1 from me

Ma Granddad landed at Juno beach on D-Day and he has celebrated his 94th birthday this year ;D The World would be never different if it was not for men like him and the millions that died all over the world fighting for what they believed in.

Lollipoppy - REMEMBER, by daveh on Nov 10, 2007 0:37:32 GMT 1, Wear mine with pride; as a teenager, at our local there were a couple of WWII lads (and at 80 on they were very much lads) who'd been in a prisoner of war camp in the far east at 17. They considered themselves to have been on 'bonus time' from the moment they got out having seen so many mates die there- I found them such an inspiration to try and lead a full and rich life, as you never know whats around the corner.
