RCA EXHIBITION - State of Play - Next Issue, by Rourke on Oct 3, 2007 19:34:56 GMT 1, Infantry WAR CRY in next issue of State of Play I've redone 'War Cry' in pen, let us know wot ya thinkโฆ
'Should art change the world?' exhibition Saturday 27 October, 10.00am until Sunday 28 October, 7.00pm, Lower Gulbenkian Gallery Festival Attractions
The first Battle of Ideas exhibition is presented by Arts & Business, the festival Arts Champion, in collaboration with State of Play magazine. The show will be on throughout the weekend in the Lower Gulbenkian Gallery.
Tia Grazette, Editor, State of Play Magazine said: 'If art can speak a thousand words, then why not let it shout out about all the issues in today's world? That's what we encourage our artists to do at State Of Play, in response to a theme. For the exhibition 'Should Art Change The World?' we have curated a selection of pieces from issue one (theme: 'Give Us Liberty') and issue two (theme: 'Sounds Of Blackness'). Work will be on show from some of our favourite artists, including Aiko, Masha Karpushina, Ben Frost, GeeVaucher, Bamm Bamm, Adam Koukoudakis, Rourke Van Dal and Space Invader. State Of Play issue two is out 27.10.07 and will be available at the exhibition.'
The Battle of Ideas is a two-day festival of high-level, thought-provoking debate organised by the Institute of Ideas and hosted by the Royal College of Art. This is the third consecutive year that the Battle of Ideas' arts and culture strand has been sponsored by A&B, the national charity dedicated to encouraging new and sustainable relationships between culture and commerce. A&B has invited State of Play, a political arts magazine where contributors voice their views about the world we live in to curate an art exhibition to inform the debate.
The exhibition will hang in the Royal College of Arts in London during the Battle of Ideas, held on the 27th and 28th October; it will then move to A&B Head Office until January 2008 as part of Incorporate, A&B's art in the workplace programme.
