Sotheby’s Made in Britain - 20th March 2019, by Tax and Shipping on Feb 23, 2019 17:25:56 GMT 1, A Mehdi diptych for £3-5k seems like a good buy - I'm not overly familiar with his market, but am interested. If someone who follows him would be kind enough to advise whether this estimate is accurate, or whether it's a bait estimate it'd be much appreciated.

80x80 canvases at primary are currently £10k. I have no idea how diptychs tend to be priced, but the estimate is certainly unrealistically low.

I'll be putting in a bid or two, but considering £3k's what you'd pay for work by an art school graduate I won't hold out much hope.

Definitely worth a try! This sale is for a really good cause too, so hopefully it’ll raise a decent sum.

Sotheby’s Made in Britain - 20th March 2019, by kuni on Feb 23, 2019 20:42:26 GMT 1, Some wonderful pieces in this auction. That large Kate Moss photo by Mike Figgis (239) is stunning. Not “cheap” but wow. Love the Bridget Riley and Mehdi works as well.

Sotheby’s Made in Britain - 20th March 2019, by Jalouse Rosemont on Feb 26, 2019 15:09:16 GMT 1, Do you think the trimmed GWRB will sell? what would you pay for it? A Lady from the old Ebay Forum had a trimmed GWRB... ( She was told it was worthless back then ). She went on to dabble in art placing her bra and knickers through the x ray and making prints out of them. (They were quite good, if anyone still has a print, hit me up.)... I wonder if GWRB is hers....

Not sure it matters. There will always be another sale, and another bunch of bidders that don't read the condition report. Ratchet in action. Almost by definition, the trimming has no impact on the price at auction - and next time around that can be stated as true fact.

So by definition not the market price
I'm not saying it's right, it most assuredly is not, but it's what the hammer says. And that means far more than an invisible trade on here.
There have to have been at least 2 bidders that didn't care it was trimmed. Unless it was a busy chandelier

First of all they would not have bid on a trimmed one, never mind paying 60k. There are Galleries who would sell you a good one for less. Two fools with too much cash to throw around trying to buy an artist that's been in the news a lot lately.
