I framed up a couple of Banksy posters in poster frames. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find frames in the exact size. Although I centered the posters, when I hang them they slip in the frame. Any idea on how to hold them in place without causing damage?

I’ve used transparent self adhesive photo corners with success for smaller pieces. If the adhesive is good enough, I don’t see why it wouldn’t work for a light weight poster. No adhesive touches the poster.

Getting poster to stay in place in frame , by NYart on Jan 21, 2019 0:31:48 GMT 1, You could start with the archival corners, like coach suggested, they’re normally my first step because they’re so easy to use and really doesn’t have any risks. But think a larger thinner poster like the typical banksy posters may not work well with them though. If that doesn’t work your next best bet would be some Lineco archival gummed hinging tape. It’s activated by water to apply, and remove the tape, it’s acid free and what many framers use. A couple small pieces on a lightweight poster is all that you need.
Since you mentioned concern with damage figured I’ll point out since your using off the shelf frames.. make sure you swap out the glass for UV free, have a backboard that is acid free. Don’t forget to use spacers or a window mat to keep the glass from coming into contact with the print, over time the glass will stick to the ink and remove it when unframing.

The frame itself is a tight enough fit that hopefully adding the photo corners will do the trick. Good call also on the acid free backing, which I’ll have to pick up. I keep them in my dark basement and out of direct sunlight, but will try the UV glass if I notice any fading—I keep my baseball collection down there as well, so try to keep everything safe and out of the light.

Not a problem, good luck with your project. Worth considering also is investing in a portfolio to store unframed prints. Keeping it in the tube will prevent damage, but trying to flattening after extended periods of time being rolled can prove a challenge! If you go to sell buyers will likely be put off knowing that information as well.

Wanted to do acid free paper, etc., but the question of how much I spent on the posters popped up and I didn’t want to press my luck.
