Julien's Auctions: The most fraudulent auction house?, by sfnyc on Oct 24, 2018 5:56:23 GMT 1, I just received the Julien's Auctions email for their upcoming Street and Contemporary Auction (November 14th 2018) and not surprisingly again it is full of fake works... www.juliensauctions.com/auctions/2018/street-and-contemporary-art/Street%20and%20Contemporary%20Art%20Flipping%20Book/
In the past I tried to speak with them to educate them on fake works they listed (as many others here tried as well I believe) to only hear them use various excuses to not remove the fake works from the auction. Now again, in the promotional email teaser alone (I didn't event bother clicking the full catalog after that) I see fake Keith Harings, fake Basquiats, fake Invader works...
Anyone knows how come they dont have their auction license removed and criminal charges filed already after operating like this for years?

Julien's Auctions: The most fraudulent auction house?, by mushi on Oct 24, 2018 6:08:58 GMT 1, I guess the same apply to Ebay, digital auction, as Julien's, physical auction : all responsability on the buyer.
"He should know what he buy, we are a selling platform, not an expertise center" This would be the answer of minor auction houses and all digital auction platforms.
Of course major houses have their own experts.

Julien's Auctions: The most fraudulent auction house?, by hnkpnk on Oct 24, 2018 16:21:56 GMT 1, This one is so bad it is funny.
Must be a bit offending for Banksy that people and even auction houses believe he would have made and released it.

Julien's Auctions: The most fraudulent auction house?, by soam24 on Oct 24, 2018 22:26:24 GMT 1, Requested a condition report on the retna and a few banksy's.
Let's just say you probably shouldn't bid on them unless you want some damage.

Julien's Auctions: The most fraudulent auction house?, by qest on Oct 24, 2018 22:37:58 GMT 1, Buyer Beware. Pretty clear in their terms and conditions: "Julienโs Auctions warrants the authenticity of Attribution (as defined below) of property listed in the catalogue or online as stated in the Attribution Warranty in Section 8 below. Except for the Attribution Warranty, all property is sold โAs Isโ. We make no warranties, nor does the Consignor, as to the merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, the correctness of the catalogue or other description of the physical condition, size, quality, rarity, importance, medium, provenance, exhibitions, literature or historical relevance of any property. No oral or written statements made in the catalogue, online listing, advertisement, Condition Report, bill of sale, and announcement or elsewhere made by employees (including affiliated and related companies) shall be considered a warranty. We and the Consignor make no representations and warranties, express or implied, as to whether the purchaser acquires any Intellectual Property Rights, including but not limited to, any reproduction rights of any property. We and the Consignor are not responsible for errors and omissions in the catalogue, online listings or any other supplemental material" "Buyer beware" does not extend to cases of fraud. But their Attribution Warranty indicates that there is (very) limited coverage if the piece's attribution is incorrect.

Julien's Auctions: The most fraudulent auction house?, by WOOF on Oct 24, 2018 23:49:54 GMT 1, Have a look at what was sent for the provenance for the two KAWS drawings Thank you for your interest in Auction 3214 In response to your inquiry concerning lots: 46 + 47 These lots are not accompanied by any provenance. Let me know if you have any further questions or if I can be of additional assistance. I mean, at least they're upfront about it.

Julien's Auctions: The most fraudulent auction house?, by shy on Oct 25, 2018 8:46:47 GMT 1, When something looks too good to be true it usually is!
There are many online auction houses selling fake art that is "attributed to" or in "in the manner of" famous artists.
Don't get conned. As appealing as these may be... they are fakes and scams

Julien's Auctions: The most fraudulent auction house?, by heller on Nov 2, 2018 19:45:30 GMT 1, It does seem odd that his print release in the LA Area this week is the same as one of the Originals in the Auction. Lot 131. Lucky Coincidence?
I also contacted them for condition reports and they where prompt and gave a detailed condition report.
Invader on his website clearly states works removed from the street are not signed nor will be they be authenticated. Would prefer to still be able to enjoy them on the street. Soon people will be re-creating these works, going back to the original locations re-photo them being removed and sending them off to auction..... There is really no difference???
