Art Toys Kickstarter, by nobokov on May 17, 2018 19:41:50 GMT 1, Kickstarter Link
Taken from the Kickstarter
"Designer toys mash art, comics, animation and pop culture into limited edition works of art. If you're into any of these things โ or just love blue zombie hamsters with chainsaws โ then Superplastic is for you.
Back us and we'll send you brilliant first edition Janky Series One toys, created with super famous artists from around the world. There's also a giant 8-inch SuperJanky by Mexican artist El Grand Chamaco, and we just added the new Maximillian Ca$h, a psychedelic 9-inch vinyl raver by our hero, UK artist Pete Fowler!
Everything is limited edition! When something's gone, its gone forever. Superplastic was created by Kidrobot founder Paul Budnitz & legendary toy artist Huck Gee."

Art Toys Kickstarter, by hungry on May 17, 2018 20:30:29 GMT 1, I backed it. Great to see two of the most iconic names in designer toys come back to the game. I'm curious to hear Kidrobot's take on it all, since this is looking like a legitimate competitor. Also curious as to why Budnitz decided to come back to designer toys after leaving Kidrobot.
EDIT: This somewhat answers the Budnitz question: coartmag.com/news/feature/superplastic-janky-series-no-1/

Art Toys Kickstarter, by nobokov on May 21, 2018 17:47:09 GMT 1, As did I, did not think anyone into toys on here as never see any posts and well since Banksy never put out a toy I'm sure plenty of people on here also collect toys. Seems like it would be a natural progression from KAWS and murakami stuff to toys. I'm hoping they unlock the golden figure soon.

Art Toys Kickstarter, by gmidd on May 21, 2018 18:28:38 GMT 1, I started with toy collecting over a decade ago and moved to prints/originals because I ran out of space. The toy market has taken quite a dive over the past few years, but there are still some companies putting out quality stuff and lots of toy customizers still killing it. I'd love to see it regain some of the huge popularity it had a few years back though!
The Kickstarter seems to be doing well! The artist lineup is fantastic, but I'm not crazy about the base figure unfortunately so I'll probably pass.

This kickstarter is the first time in a long time I'm getting a bunch of little pieces, backed one of the options with 24 boxed pieces, as think they are fun for the little ones and I am putting together a play room out of the office after my second child arrived last month.
There are some great makers out there Coarse and Fools Paradise put out some amazing works. Munky King has also put out some thought proving pieces recently.
