David Shrigley • Don’t, by Zippy on May 7, 2018 21:44:39 GMT 1, They did state upfront there would be tiered pricing and counter editions also did the same. Shrigley is in great demand at the moment and deservedly in my opinion.
Jealous also offer the ownart scheme giving the option of spreading the cost over 10 months.
Anyway, i just do not think it is a rip off as they have bern honest up front.
Was talking with friends recently about new releases now all being more expensive ie the new Insect.

David Shrigley • Don’t, by Express Post on May 7, 2018 22:18:52 GMT 1, Just between the two, Insect presents better bang for your buck. It is bigger, about the same price now, and a strong example of Insect's current body of work.
The Shrig is lacking in terms of image and pricing.

David Shrigley • Don’t, by Express Post on May 9, 2018 10:57:36 GMT 1, For the image chosen, the print has done well to be at the £1,500 level.
Fire print SAT there for yonky donks at £1,200 until the Be Nice explosion. A more desirable image would have received more attention and be at the last price tier or even sold out.

David Shrigley • Don’t, by adewilliams on May 9, 2018 14:51:35 GMT 1, counter editions release on Thursday, 4 new prints. "Initially released as a set then individually" You know what that means – people getting a complete set for the price of an individual print as the price increases.
Oh the fun is just beginning.

I think you could be right especially if the CE prints are the same price as their last Shrigley release, it will make the Jealous print price look reasonable.

David Shrigley • Don’t, by Express Post on May 10, 2018 11:47:31 GMT 1, I hope people use their better judgement and not let an instant sellout or FOMO drive their decision to purchase art.
Currently On Fire was a worthy sellout in its own right independent of Be Nice.
Don't is not in the same league.
Reminds me of Nick Walker after the 2008 Bonham auction which blew up his entire market and his LA show. Everthing sold out, even the hand holding an ice cream cone full of planet earth emerging out of the sea.

Totally agreed. Currently on fire I feel is very strong. This however is not in the same league. Not all of shrigleys work resonates with me, infact I’d say about half of it I really enjoy
