Lucy Sparrow , by Daylight Robber on Jan 17, 2019 0:15:24 GMT 1, Yes they are quite accurate. Hereโs a few in my cabinet.
I'm going to confess, I had no prior knowledge of Lucy Sparrow or her art before reading this thread and I was struggling to see what the attraction in her work is. But seeing your cabinet has suddenly made something click. I can see that it could be quite a fun way to share your collection, by filling a spare cupboard or bathroom cabinet. Unless I'm the only one who's convinced that they have guests/visitors round who like to have a sly snoop.
Anyway. I really quite like what you've done. Thanks for sharing.

Itโs quite the experience, walking into a room full of felt groceries. Seeing her work in that context really helps, as opposed to seeing singular items online for sale.

Lucy Sparrow , by Deleted on Jan 17, 2019 19:29:57 GMT 1, Stupid question probably but is everything made true to Size? I think it depends what you are buying. I've just received a couple of things and they are way larger than life-size. Not sure about the bottles. I'm having a feeling that they may well be smaller than life-size.

Lucy Sparrow , by Deleted on Jan 18, 2019 18:37:53 GMT 1, Can someone more educated in art than myself explain what the message is here? Because as far as I can tell, this is rubbish. I think she is highlighting the obsession we all have with labels and how the 'content' (be it baked beans, whisky, or a pair of jeans) is secondary to the labelling. It's not all that different to Andy Warhol and his Brillo boxes. Except, of course, Lucy Sparrow is making everything by hand herself. I think people (or at least I do anyway) respond to 'craft' and the skill within the craft. I get the impression that much urban art these days is compiled on a computer which is then sent to the printers. All the artist does physically is signs the things before sending them out to buyers. I like Lucy Sparrow because she is basically doing the exact opposite. Her work is very labour intensive and very hands-on. I feel that you are getting a piece of the artist in a way that you don't with most other artists' work. Yeah, but I can also see that it's probably an acquired taste.

No different than Banky making prints of Tesco's soup cans that people pay to buy when in reality there is nothing stopping anyone producing their own prints of Tesco soup cans or other products.

Lucy Sparrow , by moron on Jan 19, 2019 14:35:17 GMT 1, Cheers dude, I think that's for the big ticket framed pieces. I kinda like the idea of grabbing a few bits off the shelves and making my own. I was one of the first fan and buyer of Lucy ( she dedicated me postcards then also ) But the idea ( awwesone i reckon even if prices are now expensive a , i have read some 35 dollars in the shelves ) is not new. In France โ Super Marche Ferraille โ - from Toulouse also but with some drawers as good than Dran in their magazine, Ferraille illustrรฉ by Les Requins Marteaux ) made an awesome supermarket with crazy products, 18 years ago Look ( I wanted to buy all the shop ! )! That looked like a cool exhibition.
Are the artists still making art today?
What is ironic is that today some of the exibits would be called politically incorrect. How times have changed so quickly.

Yes it was awesome ! And I bought some products with my kids ! No, Now they are closed since 5 or 6 years or more ... I have the poster too and some comics reviews ( as Dran style or more ironic ) that they edited. There is still now Les Requins Marteaux editions ( same mates ) with a lot of great comics, be, posters or tats .. yes, as you said, they mocked then the alcoholic livers of unemployed people, now itโs not anymore possible, all is tragic ! Even sex ! . I will post a pic of the products that I bought . Thanks. I will put some links later on also

Lucy Sparrow , by Pavoni on Jan 20, 2019 7:52:06 GMT 1, Been following her work for a while, like her concept of creating a Simulation of something we all interact with and recognize.
I see entering her stores as a sort of analog VR.
Glad to finally buy a small batch of pieces to put together. A bit expensive, but still cheaper than Whole Foods.
Thanks for the links and posts here from Forum members.

Even if I like it a lot, the concept is not new, but well done as you said. And, as you writer also, a bit pricey
Ps I am still wondering how she is sewing all this ( alone ? Could not be ) as, there was hundred of grenades, etc etc ... What do you think ?

According to the above interview (the one on YouTube) she works with 5 (or 4?) assistants.

Art is always inspired, even Invader had a French man making invader stuff 25 years before him. His were made from metal.
Everything in the shop is under ยฃ80, there's not many artists on her level that make pieces prices like that !.

Yes, Carl, but reckon that these kind of artworks ( even if it is ) , are not unic nor limited. Itโs a bit far from a canvas or a drawing per example, and itโs the whole, the entire set ( al the shop ) that make THE ARTWORK - in Majuscule - sorry I try to explain my best bit itโs not easy. If there was only one keyring or one little tin ( Bigger artworks are better, I mean as the bottle of Kevin Anderson under plexi ), we would consider it as funny things, maybe tats ( I bought some at the beginning, and they are still in a box, a bit forgotten ) .., As for Supermarchรฉ Ferraille ( I would post a pic - real tins and washing machine powder, as this other artist in Dismaland, but before ) , I like it, if course, but for me, itโs a ยซ procรฉdรฉ ยป that can only exist if there is a lot of artworks. In fact, I would like to buy all of them or.. none ! Anyway I donโt know what will be the place of Lucy, in the future ( in contemporary art we had already a lot of monumental artworks in this style ) This shop for life ? Another items ? Anyway, 80 quids is not a gift too. Just talking of course, and telling my opinion, I like Lucy, the person and her artworks;)

Lucy Sparrow , by Carl Cashman on Jan 20, 2019 11:23:32 GMT 1, It's pop art, the mass production is actually half of what I like... warhol/Hirst factory style:). With prices ยฃ18-ยฃ75 It's deffinitely the cheaper end of what is purchased and shown on here... 90% of screen prints cost more than that and usually from artists much 'smaller'.

Lucy Sparrow , by Deleted on Jan 20, 2019 11:36:12 GMT 1, Lroy says they are not unique nor limited. Is this correct? My understanding is that she makes a lot of items for her shows (thousands) but once they are sold out then that is it. Someone on her instagram page (I think) asked if she was going to make anymore fruit pieces. Lucy said, no; they are sold out and she will not be making anymore of them. Will the items in her shop be re-made when they are sold out? Does anyone know?

For the grenade keyrings, they ( are they the same ? I did not have a look on mine ) were made some years ago. The exhibition and concept were great then as it was weapons made in soft goods, tissues and cotton, so not made to kill. If all weapons could be like Lucy Sparrow โs ones, wars and crimes would not exist Anyway what is good, is that we buy it because we like it, I donโt think that there will be any speculation, value or eBay things... but maybe Iโm wrong. www.sewyoursoul.co.uk/lucy-sparrows-warmongery-at-boxpark-now-open/

If all weapons could be like Lucy Sparrow โs ones, wars and crimes would not exist Anyway what is good, is that we buy it because we like it, I donโt think that there will be any speculation, value or eBay things... but maybe Iโm wrong. www.sewyoursoul.co.uk/lucy-sparrows-warmongery-at-boxpark-now-open/ Thanks for the link. I like the idea of soft felt weapons but the grenades are different to the ones in her shop.

Lucy Sparrow , by Pavoni on Jan 20, 2019 14:43:05 GMT 1, Lucy Sparrow โs Shop, on line is not new. She is a friend ( her PR too? ) of Jo Brooks. It could explain her popularity. Even if I like it a lot, the concept is not new, but well done as you said. And, as you writer also, a bit pricey Ps I am still wondering how she is sewing all this ( alone ? Could not be ) as, there was hundred of grenades, etc etc ... What do you think ? She has a team to help make them, there was 30,000 items in the last show!. Art is always inspired, even Invader had a French man making invader stuff 25 years before him. His were made from metal. Everything in the shop is under ยฃ80, there's not many artists on her level that make pieces prices like that !. Completely agree with you. Great prices per piece, each a handmade, signed small sculpture.
Gets "expensive" for me because my choice of either/or is both.
EXAMPLE: Inner Voice 1: "I want something round and nostalgic from my childhood, with a screw cap. Should I get the Cheez Whiz or the Skippy?"
Inner Voice 2: "Yes."

Lucy Sparrow , by jeeves on Jan 20, 2019 16:03:33 GMT 1, I really like what Lucy Sparrow is doing but curious as to what others think about the longevity of it? Surely she can only do this same thing for so long before real fatigue starts setting in? Iโm a big fan, really hope she comes up with some other good ideas

Surely she can only do this same thing for so long before real fatigue starts setting in? Iโm a big fan, really hope she comes up with some other good ideas I know what you mean but there are plenty of other artists that do the same thing over and over again. Look at Rachel Whiteread. She's done exactly the same thing for the past 20 years.
To be fair, I think of Lucy Sparrow as more of an installation artist producing interesting environments. She then sells individual pieces after the event to make some money in order to produce the next installation.
Will she last? That's hard to say but she has had some favourable write-ups in the mainstream media; something that many of the artists on here have not.

@markiemark , as I said previously, she has a great PR influencing a lot of media, gallerists or dans if Banksy :
