Banksy Morons Print, by jp on Feb 4, 2023 3:49:28 GMT 1, There isn’t , both aren’t worth much The signed sepia commands a higher price. It's difficult to compare them directly, since there are twice as many of the Sepia as the B&W signed, and few auction results for B&W. Few results mean less confidence, as timing, condition, and auction house are other important variables.
That said, highest auction result for *any* regular edition signed Morons print I can see is for B&W, 101/150, 30/03/21, International Art Centre, GBP 130,400 all in.

Not a reflection on what you’d actually get for it if you tried to sell it

You'll be lucky to get £100k

Banksy Morons Print, by JFCC on Feb 5, 2023 11:02:14 GMT 1, Very interesting debate, just because a piece gets a high price doesn't make it a fluke, it means it has more than two or three people who want it at that time. Prices fall due to economic trends, with the Art market falling and recovering quite often before the general economy. The first problem that is encountered is that there are not enough buyers with discretionary cash and so prices stabilise, which puts off more buyers and then they fall. Volume of buyers is key in a rising market hence why Forum etc are struggling with their tired Banksy Only format.
The peak of the market was 2021 as there was a lot of discretionary cash in investors and "would be" investors pockets and it created a bubble. The economy/market knew that there would be a price to pay for this ultimately and hence the decline began in late 2021 and 2022 as clever money moved away and liquidated assets (stocks as well as art). The market declined quickly as supply out stripped demand.
Currently we are seeing a little more positivity overall (stocks and collectables) but auction bidders are materially down on what is needed to make a difference and those that are buying are trying to play the downward market to be ready for the up tick!
So yes Morons is a great piece, sepia has always got slightly more than B&W, don't know what, I prefer B&W. The final 3 sales of last year averaged about £75k all done and since then we have seen an 8% fall, so it is probably sitting at £65k-70k in my opinion to a buyer at an auction or £75k - 80k in an optimistic gallery.
To sell it privately a fair price is always the mid point of what a buyer would receive (nobody should be paying any fees in this market to sell) and the all in price, so this is about £60k.
If you want £100k then those days will return but with the economic indicators pointing at Q4 before the start to the recovery I'd suggest you hold until late 2024 early 2025 if the historical charts are anything to go on!!
Just a view!!!

Banksy Morons Print, by simmsax on Feb 14, 2023 15:48:55 GMT 1, One of Banksy's most iconic prints released released just prior to the art market crash in 2007.
The print is currently framed and in excellent condition and includes the original email printed invoice and COA from pest control. The print has lovely feathered edges with a well defined embossed stamp. The attached photo is from when it was fresh out of the portfolio case.
Similiar prints that you can see on Banksy-values.com in same excellent condition have been recently sold at Sothebys for £108k and £88k. This is a great investment for the rarity of the artwork from this very limited run.
i am selling reluctantly as my business has been hit badly and now need the money but otherwise would never be selling.
Happy to complete purchase due diligence as required in London or can help organise with global logistics.

Banksy Morons Print, by bolovski on Feb 10, 2024 18:35:27 GMT 1, Hi everyone, I had a donuts print from original Banksy raffle I sold it in 2016 to help with house purchase. I am now thinking of buying a morons print to replace it as I prefer it. This purchase would be more for the art itself. I would like to hear from anyone considering selling. I would also like to hear from knowledgeable people if there is any particular version of the morons print would be better to buy and why. I might be looking for print I like but still looking for best value.
Tx Martin

Don't forget the six sets of Modern Multiples printer's proofs from Los Angeles, which are all signed.
In addition to clarifying whether he or she prefers signed or unsigned, it may be helpful for us to have an idea of bolovski's budget.
Because, perhaps unsurprisingly, the most interesting Morons edition by Banksy also happens to be the most expensive.
In October 2020, the rather nice print below sold at the Phillips London* for over one million pounds sterling:

I mean, this Girl With Balloon sold for over one million pounds sterling. Edition of 8 that nobody has even heard of? Phillips up to their usual shenanigans. Edition of 8 however there is at least 9. 8 as part of the edition 8, signed and edition number on the GWB side, no markings on the Moron side I know of. Then at least one extra which is the same but not marked as part of the edition 8. It was signed on both sides rather than the GWB side only, no edition number either side. Not a gift or marked outside the edition. Edition information on coa is 'From a series' for the extra(s). Some are sharper, some looser, some have lovely overspray spatters. Although landscape with more negative space than the print counterpart, the balance works very well with a smaller girl and more space between girl and balloon. Although it does have a morons print verso, it is an original GWB, the medium used is a Morons print. There are also the AP colour and medium variants of Morons. Best value for money Morons will be the best condition version at the best price for that version within your budget. Go for the one you enjoy most within your budget, that way you'll enjoy regardless of price sways over time that you have no control over.. Of course that may be one of the released versions for you, personal preference.

Banksy Morons Print, by bolovski on Feb 11, 2024 10:11:41 GMT 1, Hi all, Thanks for your replies they make interesting reading. My budget won’t stretch to the really rare editions though I would love one of the grey versions.
“Best value for money Morons will be the best condition version at the best price for that version within your budget”
Realistically a sepia or unsigned white is more my level.
This leads to wonder what are the advantages / disadvantages to signed or unsigned. Would love to hear you thoughts.
Also does anyone have any idea what I would need to pay for these versions in the present market. Thanks again.

Not sure you’ll loose one free for much less than that privately at the moment. Most private owners seem to be holding tight and only dealers are active at the moment meaning a premium on everything

I can offer a straight forward same day money if sellers are realistic on the prices

Banksy Morons Print, by keyser on Mar 5, 2024 22:03:15 GMT 1, I think the problem is that private sellers see that buyers are willing to pay X amount at auctions so will expect at least somewhere between hammer and final fees privately.
I’m not sure any of the people consigning to these auctions are on this forum as they’d likely get a much better private deal here.
You might have more luck defining realistic potentially? Anyhow wish you all the best with your search.

Banksy Morons Print, by Pint of cockles on Mar 5, 2024 22:28:00 GMT 1, Auction results seem to be getting worse every month so it’s hard buying in a falling market what look cheap now looks expensive next month with the next round of auctions Most sellers wait months and don’t even get a bid The tuft war didn’t even get a bid of 11k so he waited a month when it was consigned and didn’t even get a bid So to have someone willing to pay hammer or slightly under does not seem to bad if you looking to get cash in

Some things never change.
