AUGUSTG 1000 post Giveaway countdown. , by drflie on Jun 2, 2017 19:32:00 GMT 1, It's hard to choose a favourite so I'm posting a few.
This first one is from Jay Ryan. I purchased it around the same time that my son was born. For me, it really represents the family we had at the time, including our dog and cat (who have both sadly passed since then).
This piece was a commission from Godmachine. Although it's not as personal as the Ryan, it's still one of the favourite pieces I have.
This last one is from Drew Millward. It's the album artwork for an indie band I can't quite remember. It kicks ass though.

My wife made this for me for our first wedding anniversary (paper, of course) by cutting up small pieces of our wedding invitation and envelopes. (I'm the big fish.) No matter what else I own, this'll always be my favorite.

Probably the only piece of art that my wife doesn't mind looking at, the rest she would be happy taking to the tip.

AUGUSTG 1000 post Giveaway countdown. , by Deleted on Jun 7, 2017 20:35:43 GMT 1, Unable to edit my first post for some reason so here is a recap and thanks to all that posted so far!!! ....
Ok... So I guess I am close to the 1,000 post mark which really only means that it is ones time to give back a bit to a place that has offered me perspective, education, and afforded me few new friends around the globe.
When I think back to what my favorite threads have been since joining "Show us your pad" and "Your latest art purchase" have always been tops for me. In the spirit of these threads, and so not to create a simple quoted and repeated list of names, the rules of entry for this giveaway will be as follows...
- Reply to this thread by ** Posting a picture of your favorite currently hung artwork from your collection. Anything from your Rothko to your children's preschool drawings. Monetary value is meaningless here and this is purely about enjoyment.
- Share a bit about why the piece you chose is significant or meaningful to YOU.
- You can enter as many times as you like by showing and sharing your thoughts about different pieces that you currently have framed and hung.
- I will draw ONE winner **just after I reach 1000 posts. (**Edit Since I do enjoy commenting as well let's say the contest ends when I announce all 10 prizes instead)
I will be adding gifts to this list totaling 10 in all and will post to a single winner world wide at my cost.
Thanks for the all the fun and looking forward to seeing your artwork.
Gifts:
1. DFace VNA Scarf
2. Invader Postcard Set
3. Dave Shrigley Enamel Pin
4. Murakami Enamel Pin
5. Murakami Show Poster. 18"x24"
6.

AUGUSTG 1000 post Giveaway countdown. , by maggotheads on Jun 7, 2017 23:19:33 GMT 1, Ok so here is my entry.
Rene Gagnon - These Are My Sins
Why I love this piece you ask? 5 years ago, I moved from The Netherlands to Sweden to be with my girlfriend for 5 years. She lived in the Netherlands for a while and we both flew up and down a lot to see each other throughout university and things were looking good. Or so I thought. Shortly after I moved she broke up and left me alone in a country with no friends of my own. To top it off, i got kicked out shortly after moving into a small closet sized room since the landlord needed it for his friend instead. Left with as**tty job and no place to stay I quickly (luckily) found an apartment of my own! Could barely afford the place but I needed a roof above my head fast.
Literally with my last bits of money I decided to buy some Rene Gagnon pieces to brighten up my mood and have something on the walls to look at. Everybody was calling me an idiot, but it felt good to after such an amount ofs**t to look at something nice hanging from my walls!
Even though my current girlfriend does not approve of this piece, not even after 4 years, I told her she'll be out the door before this piece goes out!
It represents a time of struggle and a time of serious money struggles yet I scraped the bottom of the barrel and started collecting art to cheer up my mood. Now 5 years later, I got a fantastic job, happy girlfriend, wonderful house and still living in Stockholm!

AUGUSTG 1000 post Giveaway countdown. , by maxs13 on Jun 8, 2017 12:33:08 GMT 1, First off, thanks for doing this competition! Have a few favorite pieces but this one is probably the most meaningful (and likely cheesy). One of my favorite pieces is Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring and so decided to paint a piece influenced by it for my girlfriend for our 4 year anniversary (yikes - old). Anyways, nothing on Vermeer of course, but quite happy with how it came out.

AUGUSTG 1000 post Giveaway countdown. , by pokodogo on Jun 8, 2017 15:20:37 GMT 1, Great comp Augustg , happy to enter and possible snag something from an already great prize list! Have to say so far I love the Burgerman wallpaper from an earlier poster! Sorry if my entry seems a bit dull!
Sorry for it not been of anything of any note worthiness to anybody else & not urban art related and could be of value but most probably isnt but ... Its of Stratford Upon on Avon Races 1976, J W Watson, Artists Proof! (ive tried to find out more about it but cannot anywhere). Aquired very cheaply over 10 years ago (cheapest bit of art I own), id love to know what its value is or where i could find out more. Not knowing adds to the intrigue of it and its hung in my office totally away from every other bit of art (all urban) in the house. So when I work (which involves horses) its above my desk each day!
Apoligies I said it was dull

Amongst all the Eelus that adorns most rooms, I still enjoy looking (staring) at this each day so much going on in it and what makes it even more intriguing is the not knowing who did it and where it was for 30 years before I had it hung on my wall. This cant be said about all my other artwork!

AUGUSTG 1000 post Giveaway countdown. , by tech on Jun 10, 2017 15:51:45 GMT 1, Thanks so much for the chance. My favorite piece is my London Police drawing that I found during a scavenger hunt they had back in 2013 here in Covington Kentucky. The gallery gave out clues on their instagram and whoever got to the location fastest got it. This was the most fun i've ever had getting a piece of artwork and have a funny story to tell about climbing a tree using a mailbox as my ladder. The London Police are also some of the funnest guys to hang out with
Picture of the tree for reference where the piece was hidden.

Nice, never owned anything by shep. I was looking at open edition Andre prints but the shipping was more than the print.

AUGUSTG 1000 post Giveaway countdown. , by T-Bro on Jun 17, 2017 21:47:31 GMT 1, I'm a huge obey fan and these 3 were some of the first of his I bought. They're coincidentally standing tall in the lounge room at the moment Nice, never owned anything by shep. I was looking at open edition Andre prints but the shipping was more than the print. same here - so i bought 5...
So if you want one let me know and I will just charge you 1/5 of the total cost of the shipping and print.

These days if you're keen on a piece it's best to find a release you think is iconic and fingers crossed do the log in at print release time - I.e any political print of his etc. shipping will still be more than the print but the value will at least go through the roof almost immediately
