Agreed. The only thing that gets talked about in this forum is when there is money to be made from a flip. Swoon has been showing in museums recently so I don't think her popularity has waxed and waned.
I'm sure most people have already seen elsewhere but, if not, Swoon has a new show called 'The Light After' opening this weekend at Library Street Collective in Detroit. She has also just installed a new piece in the Detroit Institute of Arts if anyone's in town for the show and wants to check it out.
I posted who some of the people in Swoon's piece are here but here's some more info about the imagery that wasn't in the MIMA exhibition...
Left: Edline is a young girl who lives in Cormiers in Haiti where Swoon has been working on the Konbit Project since the earthquake in 2010. In addition to helping the rebuilding work, Swoon organised puppet theatre for the kids of the village based around her love of Indonesian shadow puppets and Edline's character was the sun which is now the centre of this piece. Middle: This is a portrait of the artist Monica Canilao who Swoon has collaborated with several times over the years including at Black Rat Projects in 2007, in Djerba in Tunisia in 2014 and at their joint ‘Witch Women’ show in San Fransisco last year. Right: Swoon lived in Cairo for two months in early 2009 and this is a portrait of a young women she saw just the once who was adjusting her hijab in the street one Sunday.
Left: Rosemary is a young girl who was at the 160 Girls project in Kenya when Swoon visited; the project cares for and seeks justice for girls who are the victim of sexual abuse and there's a short film about their work here. Middle: Sylvia Elena Morales was a 17 year old victim of the ongoing femicide in Cuidad Juarez which has seen thousands of women murdered since 1993; there's a short film worth watching here. Right: Kamayura is named after the indigenous tribe living in the Amazonian rainforest who have been fighting the construction of the Belo Monte Dam which threatens both the ecosystem they live in and their traditional way of life.
Left: Irina Arellano-Weiss is a photographer who has documented graffiti, political activism and hip hop culture for many years; you can see her work here.

Daniel Silk: In my opinion, Imbue, Ryca and Mobstr would be artists producing the freshest art in the past couple of years. Who would be your top 3?

Daniel Silk: I have been having a big tidy up in the Banksy forum part of the site over the past few days. I think you will find more threads in the correct places, but still lots more to do.

paulagibbs: From someone who used to build websites, this site is not easy to navigate, and all those flashing ads at the top are annoying and rather low-end looking. I am guessing the only people who are going to visit are artists trying to sell their art.

pgm: hey guys, quick question: I have a For Sale thread posted on June 26. Since then I updated the post with new and sold pieces and commented to bump it. But it is now stuck on page 11 of the Art for Sale thread (and noone sees it). Is "bumping turned off" somehow?
