To all Jack and Jill owners..., by anthonyvthc on Nov 2, 2007 1:53:26 GMT 1, Hi all, I was looking at my J&J up close today and I noticed a line that sort of runs through the top of the kids' heads, as though the paint streaked or it was the edge of the screen. I could only get one good photo, so here it is:
Does anyone else's print have this?
Thanks, Anthony

To all Jack and Jill owners..., by morrissey1 on Nov 2, 2007 1:56:06 GMT 1, either way, wouldn't worry to much about that line....not damage, just a characteristic of hand-pulled prints, I think

To all Jack and Jill owners..., by absyrd on Nov 2, 2007 11:31:41 GMT 1, Hi all, I was looking at my J&J up close today and I noticed a line that sort of runs through the top of the kids' heads, as though the paint streaked or it was the edge of the screen.
Thus is the "art" of screenprinting. There are a few reasons this could have happened:
1.When it was being squeegee'd, the person could have dragged in their motion.
2. A bit of ink could have come off the previous print and been on the underside of the screen.
3. The image could have not transferred perfectly just on that spot and after a few pulls, the ink could have saturated it and made it through the tiny crack.
I wouldn't be concerned.

To all Jack and Jill owners..., by streetgirl on Nov 2, 2007 11:36:11 GMT 1, I was kidding.
The registration on mine is spot on also. There was a blemish on the paper which is impossible to spot now it's been framed.
I've done a lot of hand printing onto fabrics for my work and honestly, it's very difficult to pull a perfect screen. When people are buying bespoke/one-off hand screened textiles they accept that due to the nature of the process, no two pieces will be the same and indeed there will always be some kind of variation. Ofcourse, if there's a big dollop of ink that's seeped through, we'd redo it - but a few trace lines here and there, well, I'd take that anyday over a mass produced print line out of China.
Edit: Considering the number of colours on the J&J (anything more than two really), I'd be pretty pleased with that print.
;D

Yeah, I commented on this last month and got neg'd to high heaven for it. As far as the Jack & Jill goes, it's nothing you should worry about. The art of screen printing is a forgiving process. I have a few older Obey that have uneven ink marks that I'm not worried at all about. While it's being discussed, there's a Napalm on ebay at the moment that has horrible ink coverage; I'm surprised it wasn't destroyed...
