I recently purchased a canvas from an artist, to keep down shipping cost I received it unmounted and rolled. I am US based and my intentions were to have a professional remount it for me locally, but the quotes I have been receiving are upwards of $300. So, I will be remounting it myself. I have remounted a few smaller canvases but never one as large as this.
This canvas is a 48x48 inch square. Is there anything I need to consider before proceeding? I was going to purchase a 48x48 stretchers set, but as I am sure they are not all made equally.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

are the stretchers set with a cross in the middle for extra support?

Probably worth buying some small g clamps or clamps to hold the canvas in place.

Take your time and make sure the canvas is lined up correctly with the stretcher.

As long as you work from center outwards and turn to opposite sides everytime you make a staple then its pretty simple. I've stretched hundreds and its pretty easy and satisfying. Make sure though the bars you buy are substantial as at that size you don't want them to buckle.
