BANKSY Curated Show "Dismaland" in Weston-super-Mare, by Dr Plip on Aug 31, 2015 0:53:47 GMT 1, Everything is auch and ugly. Honestly, it isn't Nordic. The show was wonderful and I think most people here thought that. Absolutely, Nord. I was just giving the few examples of behaviour that I found disagreeable from people during my visit. But any negatives were bastly, err, vastly outweighed by the positives. Despite my brief disappointment in a few individuals, it's actually a good thing that they're attending Dismaland. We, and most other members of the forum, are probably already fully paid-up subscribers to a lot of the philosophies, themes, beliefs and subject matters touched on by the artwork in the park. But if Dismaland can attract a wider audience, perhaps people that wouldn't normally care for these kinds of topics or shows, then great. Awesome.

I honestly think you're over rating the members here by a substantial amount, but seeing the best ain't a bad trait

BANKSY Curated Show "Dismaland" in Weston-super-Mare, by Deleted on Aug 31, 2015 1:07:59 GMT 1, Personally I think that the disabled can go right to the front of any queue. And in my experience, if the child isn't disabled, then they aren't going to appreciate their parent referring to them as such, so it's unlikely they'd claim their child is disabled just to jump a queue. While we're on the subject of disabilities, there were a quite a few handicapped and wheelchair-using visitors on the day that I went. While a few areas were difficult to access, I was impressed to see how many had come to enjoy themselves and appreciate the artwork and events. Absolutely. However, they never referred to their child as being disabled - they asked where the disabled queue was as the kid needed food. There is not a disabled queue by the way, so the poor security guy quickly made one just for them. Hope they felt special. there was an amazing old lady in a wheel chair who had been waiting for 6 hours in the ticketless queue. It was soaking as well. Was she complaining? Nope. dude, so what? Theres been posts and posts about this. Lets just leave it.

BANKSY Curated Show "Dismaland" in Weston-super-Mare, by Black Apple Art on Aug 31, 2015 1:47:40 GMT 1, Went again yesterday. Filmed a great video of a woman going mental at the balloon lady because she wouldn't sell her a balloon. To the point where she tried to grab the balloon off her. It was terrible First shout for an upload of the video ;-) As time goes on can see some funny interactions between the public and the staff , not everyone seems to get the dry humour . Wonder how dismaland would play out if in America Funny you brought that up tab1 - One of the things I noticed about the park was how there was no way in the world something like this would get a permit to be open to the public in the US. The trip hazards alone would prevent it from opening. There were literally dozens of uneven surfaces, drop offs, open water, exposed wires and countless other hazards everywhere with basically no areas off limits no matter how unsafe. The evening I was there they even had an open bonfire which was spitting ash and burning embers everywhere the wind blew and saw many a guests frantically brush them off their clothes several times not to mention the hazard to eyes. For me one of the things that truly added to the "dismal" factor but definitely at the risk of public safety, especially for kids. Not sure who is assuming liability for the park during the event duration but no company in their right mind would insure it in the states. By no means a complaint, just an observation and I think having to bring that venue to "code" would have ruined it.

BANKSY Curated Show "Dismaland" in Weston-super-Mare, by 11 on Aug 31, 2015 1:53:36 GMT 1, I just found out that the Pocket Money Loans place had complimentary chocolate coins. And some people have eBayed them. What lunatic eBay's free chocolate? Apparently the first raid failed as the alleged smuggler, having had a quick spliff to calm his nerves, got to the job and was struck by a severe case of the munchies ...

BANKSY Curated Show "Dismaland" in Weston-super-Mare, by Acidburn on Aug 31, 2015 5:27:23 GMT 1, A signed GWB! LOL! I think you have to carry the anvil home. No danger of eBaying that. That's exactly right, if you win you get to carry the anvil home. Either way you're screwed and you have the pleasure of paying for it. It's brilliant in its simplicity and a perfect reflection of many scenarios in life, ESPECIALLY at a theme park. Someone else mentioned life imitating art which i've continued to reflect on and think it's simply art imitating life. I love it. sorry if i missed something, we all know that you aren't supposed to tip the anvil over right?
You win a band no matter what. Its in the program

BANKSY Curated Show "Dismaland" in Weston-super-Mare, by Lroy on Aug 31, 2015 7:19:23 GMT 1, Ace. I just realised that parents will be pleading with their children to buy them an imbecile balloon. Could be amusing for the kids. Honnestly, I thought and I think that ballloons are rather for adults...
You imagine a kid, your kid - he is not in age to decide or to know the real meaning, and is a bit incredulous/ingenuous and naรฏve with one of this balloon and working during Dismaland or outside holidng this balloon ? Its a bit his parents mocking him... Will he laugh when he will see pics in the future ? I tell you that becasue my son who is 15 like it, too, like the meaning, He would like one of course, but I don't think that the the teen he is could walk away with it half a day... Whatr a shamefor him, lol ! Are teens have humour ? Of course, but between them, mocking others mostly...
Best maybe, were to make these balloons - as a part of Dismaland - but to don't sell them. I know that my post could be a bit moralizing, sanctimonious, as a priest, but I put myself in the shy and innocnet ( lol ) head that I was when I was young, and almost all I love and respect so mcuch kids !
So ... " NOW MADAM, CAN YOU SELL ME FOR 5 ONE OF YOU FOOOOCKIN BALLOOON !!! THESE BALLOONS ARE NOT FOR MINORS BUT FOR ADULTS ONLY AND I CROSS THE SEA FROM FRANCE EXPRESSELY TO GET ONE AND TO BE AN IMBECILE FOR EVER !!! "
Ah aha ;-D

You'll get a balloon, Roy. And once you have it, you have to get your camera out and recreate the girl with balloon image

BANKSY Curated Show "Dismaland" in Weston-super-Mare, by Finsbury on Aug 31, 2015 9:39:16 GMT 1, That's right. I don't think anyone should begrudge a disabled child going to the front a a queue. There are plenty of disabilities that are not obvious. A wheelchair is not a pre requisite! Is needing a mars bar every hour a pre-requisite? any way, im not going to go on about it, thats just what happened. Even the security guard was cringing. also there was plenty of kids patiently waiting their turn watching them as well. I think even the woman was embarassed after she did it as she would not turn around to the queue. She was probably embarrassed because she felt the same discomfort from a********* like you we ourselves have felt on many occasions due to our son having a condition that prevents him from having the patience we all take for granted. But thankfully he is still 100 times the man that you are, standing in your queue casting down your ill judged opinion. Next time why don't you stop and use that 'Guardian' brain of yours.

BANKSY Curated Show "Dismaland" in Weston-super-Mare, by Deleted on Aug 31, 2015 11:49:49 GMT 1, First shout for an upload of the video ;-) As time goes on can see some funny interactions between the public and the staff , not everyone seems to get the dry humour .
Normally in Britain, the Health and Safety executive gives the place a visit before permission is granted.
Some Councils are stricter than others.

BANKSY Curated Show "Dismaland" in Weston-super-Mare, by .dappy on Aug 31, 2015 11:56:42 GMT 1, The H&S Executive are not connected with Councils in any way for this type of event, and the HSE would not have visited.
The exhibition will have Public Liability Insurance - it would be a condition of opening to the public. The Organisers will have undertaken their own 'Risk Assesment' and so long as their is nothing illegal, there is no reason for the event not to take place, eg with the many Dismal Helpers/staff around, this helps to get a lot of 'issues'

So it's a lot easier than I thought.
Just comes down to having insurance and fire extinguishers on hand and signs saying beware slippery surface fire exit etc and making sure people don't fall over and impale themselves on Damien Hirsts beach ball exhibit.
