Os Gemeos, by sommguy on Dec 9, 2014 6:50:53 GMT 1, So I came across these pics from 2010, when I was searching for another...
I was on the phone with a vendor, in Los Angeles when I turned to look over my shoulder down at the parking lot behind a Prism Gallery in west hollywood, and was like.... Holy Shit! Those are the brothers from brazil! I didn't even know their name, couldn't pronounce it or anything. but their work was undeniably good.
SO i jammed downstairs to say hello. Really nice guys. they were in town for like a day and half. "we come and create and leave" is what one of them said.
SO i thought i would share that moment for you all that like them. I sure do Amazing work below!!!!

Os Gemeos, by sommguy on Dec 9, 2014 11:47:43 GMT 1, sick right? I was opening the eveleigh restaurant next door, and next thing i know I'm watching these guys do their thing... i still can't believe i didn't ask for their number or try to work out a commission on the spot. but i spent my time watching in awe... they were fast.
PC lucked out with that hook up

Os Gemeos, by eschiff on Dec 9, 2014 11:51:10 GMT 1, great pics, thanks for sharing.
I was in Paris last weekend and got a tour of Idem (the print shop where their print was made). Was a fantastic time, highly recommend to anyone going there. Must of been there 45 minutes just myself and fiancee (bless her) as Patrice showed us around.
He started talking about the Os Gemeos print and I mentioned I was lucky to get one on the drop. He was really surprised and said there were around 16000 different IPs hitting the site when it dropped. I don't know if that's a lot or a little or how it would compare to other artists but was interesting nonetheless!

Os Gemeos, by Feral Things on Dec 9, 2014 16:54:57 GMT 1, Thanks for sharing, sommguy. Beautiful canvases; I particularly like the second one. To keep the Os Gemeos nostalgia going I thought it was worth mentioning that the books from Urban Discipline 2000, 2001 and 2002 are all available online as Issuu books and they've got some lovely vintage Os Gemeos in them;

Thanks sommguy...ย Eveleigh??ย That is one of my favorite restaurants in LA!!ย Nice!
My favorite restaurant opening. Glad you like place. Took a lot of starring at walls and just sitting on paint cans, wondering what we were going to do there, design wise. Just gutted the whole place and let the original structure dictate how we were to design it.
We made everything there. The chairs, the tables everything. Was a fun project. Horrible people to work for tho.

OH the place is designed impeccably... The way the back area feels like you are outside despite being enclosed, to the bar made in a way that everyone can look at everyone else no matter where you are they are seated... to the outdoor area in the front which allows for smoking... something lacking in Cali... the only problem is that I have almost fallen into the fountain thinggy by the front a few times after quite a few drinks...

Os Gemeos, by sommguy on Dec 9, 2014 20:50:09 GMT 1, Stubborn restaurant owners... I said it would happen and it does. but they didn't care. Those guys denied a thousand dollar awning to cover the stairs going down to the dish area. Denied and the staff get rained on, slip and fall etc... This guys were jerks. Enuf about that.
But the eveleigh will always have a soft spot in my heart. After all, a lot of love and passion went into building that place

Been looking to get my hands on that book for a while... So if you count that, it makes 2 prints... I guess prints are not their thing...

I am very proud of what we built and what we pulled off.

Not too take this off topic again, but have to reciprocate, phenomenal job on the design of that restaurant - congrats on that. Did you work on the other space (Goldie's) they opened after too?

Os Gemeos, by sommguy on Dec 21, 2014 11:22:34 GMT 1, No I did not. I parted ways 3 weeks after my contract expired. I don't like their management style, or their lack of interest in the personal. The owners are not the best of people. very cheap and selfish.

Definitely interesting to hear, and skews my view of the place.
