Sydney, by Jeezuz Jones Snr on Nov 7, 2014 22:35:43 GMT 1, We moved to Brisbane a few months ago, shame as I would have shown you around.
If its your first time??after breakfast walk through Hyde park and go here www.artgallery.nsw.gov.au/exhibitions/pop-to-popism/
It has amazing art anyway and this looks like an amazing great exhibition...After the museum, walk through botanic gardens, toward opera house, (go in and get up close to it it's an amazing building) have a cold James Boags beer in the opera bar and with a view of the bridge. Walk around to wharf 3 get a ferry to manly beach, weather looks good take a dip, be careful as you've had a beer. Join in a game of volley ball with some hot chicks it's hot and its time for another beer!!
Walk back to the wharf turn left to the wharf bar, try a nice cold Hahn beer with some seafood.. Finish that get ferry back to circular quay, walk around circular quay to the contemporary museum (its free) great place. After half hour in there, it's beer time walk around the 'Rocks' to 'the Australian' pub, cracking pub with lots of amber ales (crocodile, emu an kangaroo pizzas here all good) Then walk down the hill to the 'harbour view' pub walk up the long stairs to the balcony and have a few beers under the bridge and take in the rocks..
After that go back to hotel, quick shower change - then get down the bars in darling harbour and get on the cocktails for a sugar boost work your way around to the casino. That's a lot to do in in one day and I do that with all my friends/family that come over and they love it...my tours consists of a lot of pubs
Day 2 get a bus to bondi junction, another bus to bronte and walk to bondi (only do this if its nice and sunny). Have a surf lesson in bronte, time it so when you walk and reach bondi it's lunch time and yes time for beers!!
Get a window seat on 'Ravesis' and stay there for a few cold ones and lunch, then have a quick dip (always in betweenthe flags) walk north to bondi RSL take in the view and get on the beers. If you stay in bondi that night, ask where the beach road bar is (my old local which I miss dearly) always lively..
Lots more do do: bridge climb, sydney centre point, watsons bay, paddingtonarkets, go to Chinatown and paddy's markets. Shan gri la hotel (for cocktails). paddington pub crawl. kings cross at night l. You could do a trip outside of Sydney to other beaches, wine tour..
If you have any questions drop me a pm. Have a good one

Sydney, by Swiss Alan on Nov 7, 2014 22:43:47 GMT 1, Fav bar of all time is shady pines which is up an alley near junction of crown at and oxford st. It's unmarked so google it to find the entrance.
They have a sister whiskey bar called the Baxter inn. Again it's unmarked and accessed via a side street.
Both are brilliant. Art wise I wouldn't bother and just go to Melbourne.

Sydney, by Hugs on Nov 8, 2014 21:47:27 GMT 1, The Criterion pub not far from Hyde park is fantastic if you like guinness and the craic.
Spent St Pat's weekend in Sydney this year and it was the best time..
Doyles at Watsons bay is nice as well...been a while since I was there but it was always good, nice ferry ride over as well.

Sydney, by pollywaffle on Nov 9, 2014 0:13:23 GMT 1, Finally, something I can properly contribute to around here!
Where abouts in Sydney are you staying? How long will you be here for? Definitely agree on Shady Pines and Baxters. They can get VERY busy on the weekends though and you pretty much can't find a seat. But still pop in, you might be lucky. Newtown is great for food, especially if you like Thai food. Every second restaurant is literally thai food. There's also some great bars along there. Glebe isn't too far away and they have some good places there. My brother's art gallery is in Glebe, however, no exhibition is on at the moment. We're having some lovely weather lately, so you could even pop by Bondi beach. It's pretty touristy and people think it's lame, but really, it's a beautiful beach. There's some Lister artwork up the top near the pathway, too.
In terms of street art, as has been said before, book a flight to Melbourne I was there last week and they blow us out of the water.
