PEZ โ PIERRE-YVES RIVEAU PRIMARY INSTINCT..., by Warm Gun on Apr 20, 2014 19:07:14 GMT 1, I don't really understand what I'm looking at here other than a slightly ugly girl with a weird splash of colour seemingly crawling out of her gob and onto her shoulder? Has Pez sploshed colour around her chops just because he can? What's it there for? Does it mean something? Has she stuck her face in an artists crutch? Is it a sexual thing? Just looks a bit mental that's all....in fact I think it may well be THE worst image I've seen for a very long time. Hopefully someone will shed some light on this and I'll see it through different eyes...maybe?

Why do you want someone to explain it to you? It is what your imagination wants it to be and that's what pez is saying in all his detailed drawing.
I have never understood these mr grumpy posts in all the years I have been here, fine if you don't like it but why post tell me why to like it cos I don't

PEZ โ PIERRE-YVES RIVEAU PRIMARY INSTINCT..., by Ottomatik on Apr 20, 2014 19:30:16 GMT 1, I think he if Pez is going to release an edition of one of his pieces, he should use better judgement as to which image he uses. He's a very talented artist. I've yet to own something, but hope to in the future.
I'm extremely thankful for the gift Graffiti Prints have given us. An ongoing supply of excellent quality screen prints from some HAWT artists.
That said, I find his drawing skills not executed as well as his standard has become. ie:the nose. His shading seems too much of a contrast compared to the boldness of the hair.
I just don't know...

Lots of love, Mr Grumpy.

PEZ โ PIERRE-YVES RIVEAU PRIMARY INSTINCT..., by mandingo on Apr 20, 2014 20:07:18 GMT 1, I prefer his off the wall illustrations. The first Gp release was excellent prints from his sketch book illustrations. I love the Utbny prints. These are merging into snik/findac/hush territory . Which isn't a bad thing just that there is enough if it already out there. He is such a talented artist and has the vision to draw the maddest of things.

PEZ โ PIERRE-YVES RIVEAU PRIMARY INSTINCT..., by Stoko on Apr 21, 2014 14:33:04 GMT 1, A curious choice to do such a range of versions. Not keen on the image but like the range of colour ways, but as has been mentioned the original drawing isn't up to the usual standard and style I'd associate with Pez

PEZ โ PIERRE-YVES RIVEAU PRIMARY INSTINCT..., by BKBOI on Apr 21, 2014 14:54:16 GMT 1, was this ever a street piece? I wanted to know how this image was used. At this point, seems like a lot of new releases follow the MBW recipe. A classic image and splash some graffiti/classic warhol/classic lichtenstein images with no idea why it was put together other than it kinda looks cool.

PEZ โ PIERRE-YVES RIVEAU PRIMARY INSTINCT..., by morgan on Apr 21, 2014 17:57:26 GMT 1, seems you make a piece then scribble some spray paint on it in an area to justify it as "street art". Not picking on this release in particular but in general this onslaught of releases like someone said above the "MBW" recipe...although I would say more like the Martin Whatson recipe. Pretty astonishing how many pieces from a range of artists are a stencil plus a spray paint scribble.

PEZ โ PIERRE-YVES RIVEAU PRIMARY INSTINCT..., by kramerica on Apr 21, 2014 19:44:20 GMT 1, I would agree with others that this seems like a weaker image than much of his other work. I would be interested to see some of the other hand finished options, even though I won't be going for this. I am definitely looking forward to more from PEZ.
