Getting a COA when living overseas, by astrobboy on Apr 12, 2014 0:52:05 GMT 1, I want to get a COA for my 'Laugh Now' and POW want to see it in person. I live in Australia so will either need to send it over to them or bring it in person.
I am heading to the UK in June, so bringing it in person is a possibility but I wonder if I need to take out extra travel insurance? And do I have to declare it when going through customs (and again when I come back through customs on this end).
If I send it to them, obviously it would be tracked and need a signature on the other end - but if I insure it for say $4k, won't there be duty that has to be paid when POW sign for it?

You'll need to leave it with them which could be a problem if they haven't finished with it before you head back to Oz; I had a print which took 2 days to authenticate and another which took 9 months. Also, two trips up to the POW offices would take an unwanted chunk out of your trip. If you do decide to bring it across yourself then you'll need to check your travel insurance and baggage allowance to see if you're covered. I would suggest making sure the packing is pretty heavy duty.
If you do decide to post it then, assuming it's correctly marked, I wouldn't have thought there should be any duty because it's not being bought by someone in the UK. This is my assumption though and isn't based on any special knowledge or experience.
Whatever you decide, hope it does smoothly and you have a good trip to the UK.

I hand carried 2x signed banksy in a few month's ago .Didn't tell them how much they were worth as didn't want to pay the duty .
Never got stopped so was all good .I'm guessing if your taking it in and out that should be fine also use your old receipt as it will be a lot less value if you hand carry it.
