The OS Gemeos Effect, by mmmike on Jan 29, 2014 21:59:55 GMT 1, Dude, calm down. I don't think there is any other artist that we can compare with this print release at that price point. Has the machine even made any other edition that was this price? I'm not aware of one. And with that said, there isn't another to compare it to. If you look at the printers webpage they have made many prints for contemporary artists that are even more expensive and higher editions. The thing with this machine/printing studio is that it has a solid background that only ads to the story of the print. The machine alone isn't why it's an expensive print, but I think that when they first are doing a print it's the perfect place to print it. It would be interesting to get a thread going on different print techniques and printers. I would but I don't have much to contribute except to say that I have been really impressed by the prints I have seen that have been done by Modern Multiples.

The OS Gemeos Effect, by mmmike on Jan 29, 2014 22:05:23 GMT 1, A lot of arguing here but it seems like most of the people who are arguing the print was a good buy got one and most who are not so sure didn't. So I guess things worked out well. It would be cool if the conversation could shift a bit and some of the die hard fans could talk a bit about how, when and why they gravitated towards the twins work. It would be great if there was a bit more chat about the work rather than the price. I have to say that I sadly do not own a OG and missed this release as well. Personally I remember the Twins coming about on the issue of 12ozprophet way back and following the magazine scene that opened my eyes to the talent. Being from San Francisco and a graffiti artist in the 90's what Barry was doing in the streets with his characters was way ahead of his time. Growing up as a graffiti artist Barry opened our eyes early on to the potential of the art institutions, he send writers like myself personal mail invites to his museum shows and graduation show from college. When he linked up with the twins because of a residency as an artist and affiliations also with 12ozprophet and Raeyvn the editor who is also still key in their management it was a perfect match. It was a perfect relationship that opened the twins to the US and vise versa, I personally was able to meet them and see their work first hand in 2003 at the Luggage store, I just found a picture of myself signing sketchbooks at that show their houses behind me. What I would give to have the foresight to buy or trade work back then. Unfortunately for me I thought we would all just support each others art for ever and put it on the backburner. Little did I know that our artform would blow up financially. I was more caught up in the peer network then the financial aspect. So to me I am proud of these guys and artists like them that represent the underdog in graffiti art. Thanks for that. Pretty interesting, it is a bit sad how money can get in the way sometimes. I'd say hanging with those guys is way cooler than buying their work.
Barry McGee is my current fascination. I just finished a book on him that I quite enjoyed www.amazon.ca/Barry-McGee-Alex-Baker/dp/1935202855/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1391029485&sr=8-1&keywords=barry+mcgee.
Do you have any good McGee stories you'd like to share?

Good Idea, I would love to hear others expertise and ideas on fine art printing. as far as MM one of their master printers just founded Serio Press I believe and he is doing many of the new drops in LA currently. I have heard many bad rumors that I wont repeat about MM and thus many artists moving away from them, but you know how rumors are.
Here is a recent pick of a Roids print that will drop for Pow Wow with 1xrun. Seven colors I believe.

I don't know about MM in terms of working with them and I emailed them about an order a couple times and didn't get a response so I'd say their customer service sucks but the quality of the prints that I have seen are very good IMHO and all the Banksy prints that they did I prefer to the POW versions. Small differences but to me anyway they are nicer.

The OS Gemeos Effect, by Gard on Jan 29, 2014 22:18:37 GMT 1, I know it's kind of blasphemy around here, but I think Mr. Brainwash has some of the best quality in prints. Anyone knows where he prints his stuff?

The OS Gemeos Effect, by M on Jan 29, 2014 23:39:45 GMT 1, about examples: Dolk was selling his prints ed of 25 on the last show for 4000$ or close... I think that most of them was sold Kaws porfolio ed. of 100 cost 25,000 $ so it's 2800$ for one print

I think that most of them was sold Kaws porfolio ed. of 100 cost 25,000 $ so it's 2800$ for one print Were these Dolk's on canvas or paper. Even though I wouldnt put dolk on the same page as OG due to the fact Dolk's originals have not entered the 6 figure range yet that I know of. Yet it is a great example of an artist asking 4K for an edition, I dont know if its worth it but if he sold them out then people must have thought so.
The Kaws example is probably the closest match we can use as a comparable and a price point. It might have also factored into the OG price point, but its all speculation. I would guess because you had to by 25K worth of Prints that the Kaws pieces individually could have demanded the 4K price point. Nice examples.

More people are aware of Kaws than Os G. So, that doesn't really count.

The OS Gemeos Effect, by Ottomatik on Jan 30, 2014 0:10:35 GMT 1, If you look at the printers webpage they have made many prints for contemporary artists that are even more expensive and higher editions. The thing with this machine/printing studio is that it has a solid background that only ads to the story of the print. The machine alone isn't why it's an expensive print, but I think that when they first are doing a print it's the perfect place to print it.ย It would be interesting to get a thread going on different print techniques and printers. I would but I don't have much to contribute except to say that I have been really impressed by the prints I have seen that have been done by Modern Multiples.
I'd love to get my hands on one of the Charming Baker prints MM did for the first LA show.

Kaws has had great success, so has OG. They both are represented by the high end galleries with a large collector base, I dont know what Kaws og's sell for compared to OG but I could guess they are also similar. Both are from the same era and also genre. Kaws has 216K instagram followers compared to OG 200K, the list goes on. I would say they are neck and neck. Kaws could get the nod for being a tiny bit ahead of them but not by much.

The OS Gemeos Effect, by mmmike on Jan 30, 2014 0:24:11 GMT 1, Waiting for your opinion about JonOne Graffiturism... I love JonOne. No way his prints are 4k. He did some small editions of originals on paper. I think they were less then 3k. I can't imagine why someone would pay 4k for a print from an artist from whom you could get an original canvas work for $10 - 15k

His HPM prints edition of 8 were selling for 1400 I believe at Fabien Castier.

The OS Gemeos Effect, by Poster Bob on Jan 30, 2014 0:28:44 GMT 1, about examples: Dolk was selling his prints ed of 25 on the last show for 4000$ or close... I think that most of them was sold Kaws porfolio ed. of 100 cost 25,000 $ so it's 2800$ for one print Last time I checked they are still available from the gallery. They're not that great.
