Best FREE email provider to use...??
« Thread Started on Jan 16, 2009, 11:14am »

Apologies for wrong thread/ non art talk.

Been with Lycos for years with no probs but they are now closing their email section down as it is non profit making.

Any suggestions for a half decent one that's not too well known where I have to have a rake of numbers behind my name???

Cheers!

Letting me have my name (with a dot between) and they seem secure.

I use Internet Service Providings in India, they have a highly-priced ISP that promises "42 megabytings" data speed and "a better dealings than your current dealings". Its completely free other than £42.50 for the fisrt 3 months and £32 for the following 6 months. They also provide Mobile Network Providings, Digital Multichannel Receivings and Internet Relationship Providings.

Hotmail.... been with them for years.

Seems Lycos is going down the pan. I have an e-shop with them and it's been closed down for same reasons. So frustrating :(

Sh1t! I use lycos (and have for years) as my main account and always rated it highly - didn't hear anything about it closing! I have gmail too but still cant get my head around organising it. Didn't get any email off lycos to that effect...

Apparently (according to some discussion boards) the LYCOS US site is not affected (only the Europe operation is shutting down on Feb 15th) US site is a seperate entity owned by DAUM in South Korea & HQ'd in Massachusetts. BTW, does anyone know how I can back up my email folders without individually forwarding them onto another account. I have literally thousands of emails, mainly work related and I can't bear the thought of having to move them all manually. Any advice appreciated.

gmail by far...if only for their spam filter.

plus, if you have a business, you can go through gmail for your email.....for instance, my email is jon@theglasshouse.us for the music venue, but i have a dedicated page on gmail for me to check my email....it straight up rules. web based email is the way to go.

I use fastmail, not too widely known, but has very good reviews.
I've been using it for several years now and never had any problems with it.
