 Which Banksy for the Museum?
« Thread Started on Sept 3, 2009, 10:01am »

Think I read that Banksy will be donating one piece from the exhibition for the Museum's permanent collection. I am aware that many of the pieces are already owned by other people but that aside, which one would you like to see on permanent display?

For me it would be the Hirst collaboration.

Monkey Parliament would be a pretty major piece to donate.

Pretty sure it was recently created for the show as seen in the show trailer, and was not sold:

What make you say it is on loan?

Was confirmed on the radio last night. A piece from Banksy will be going into the new museum on the harbourside.

Technically all of the pieces in the show were 'on loan'. Either from collectors, or Mr B himself.

Time will tell which piece he donates, but the fact that they were selling 'Monkey Parliament' posters might give some indication.

Really? Not saying you're wrong DD, but if you are right, I was misinformed that it was a new piece and available at £600k.

Improved Spot painting was available and a fine nod to Keep it spotless. I hope the museum gets to keep Monkey Paliament too.

Perhaps so yes! Either way, I think it would be an incredible piece to have on permanent public display.

I hope they rope it off if it does stay.

I'd image a lot of the exhibits needed cleaning with all the fingers on them :-/
