Street art / Graffiti car question, by frog on Nov 5, 2012 19:27:28 GMT 1, Wasn't really sure where to post this, or even if it's okay to post this, so if it is an issue, then please move / delete it, no worries
The paintwork on my old Mk1 Suzuki Swift is looking a bit tired ( well it is 25 years old ) and having seen a few cars online and at various shows, i fancy going down the street art / graffiti route and getting someone to give it a unique look.
I know if i tried it myself it would look a mess , so i just wondered if anyone on here would be willing to have a go, or knows someone that would.
Not got any ideas on image / style etc, just that it can't be rude or offensive, and must be suitable for a car that's parked regularly within school grounds ( although that doesn't mean lots of Peppa Pig and Iggle Piggle )
I obviously wouldn't expect anyone to do this for free ( unless they wanted to ;D ) but also wouldn't have a clue on what fee to pay, so could discuss this with anyone that was interested.
I'm in Cambs, near Peterborough, but don't mind travelling a bit ( quite often down Letchworth / Stevenage way )
Cheers

Street art / Graffiti car question, by stillborncrisps on Nov 5, 2012 20:02:14 GMT 1, Oooh, excited to see what comes of this! I love painted cars probably more than painted walls, just coz you don't see them so often and obv it's a bit of a commitment. People are more likely to get a frikkin tattoo than get their car painted.
Will dig out some pics of stuff I've spotted over the years for inspiration.
You say you've got no style in mind, but you must have a preference to the sort of art you like? Dark/bright, illustrative/graphic, figurative/typographic, funny/heavy, etc... What art is on your walls?
Have you got a legal wall near you? I'm sure if you hung round on a Saturday you could find someone who's style you like willing to do a proper graff piece up the sides for paint costs, or give one side each to 2 guys and turn it into a graff battle.

Street art / Graffiti car question, by frog on Nov 5, 2012 22:10:14 GMT 1, Some cool pics there .. although might have to give the pink dots a miss
I'm thinking something bright - liking the vans, and the Seat looks cool too. Figures seem to come accross well, but maybe not so on a car ? I think going for a whole coverage would look better ... that VW van is excellent.
Having more than one person graffiti would be cool - get a good contrast of styles and colours down each side.
I live in a fairly quiet village, which has the downside of no legal walls, and a huge lack in graffiti, infact i can't think of a single piece in the village.
So if anyone knows of any legal walls, or good spots to maybe find a decent graf artist around my area, let me know.

Street art / Graffiti car question, by stillborncrisps on Nov 6, 2012 0:43:31 GMT 1, That drippy van looked good from that side, but no so much from the other. Sounds stupid but I think drips are harder to pull off than you'd think.
This was my fave piece at the Cans Festival v2:
(photo by Silky) There's another pic of it here: www.flickr.com/photos/herschell/2875996274/

Street art / Graffiti car question, by frog on Nov 6, 2012 16:49:11 GMT 1, I can see how drips could end up looking like someone's just chucked paint over the car
Like the mini though .. I originally had the idea for a graffiti'd car when i owned a classic Mini Clubman Estate. Then at a large Mini show, i noticed that someone had beat me to it ( they'd done a very nice job of it aswell ). And then i ended up selling the car anyway
Got a few ideas / leads i might follow up on and we'll see where it all ends.
But still always open to suggestions from people

Street art / Graffiti car question, by frog on Nov 7, 2012 21:29:09 GMT 1, Just found that there's a legal wall in St Neots ( or atleast there was beginning of the year ), which is just down the road ( and it's actually around the corner from where i used to live ).
Might have to have a look over the weekend and see if it's still being painted .. and take a few pics if it is.
Does anyone here use it ?

Found an artist whose work i like, so currently looking at March / April next year to get mine done now, as spraying outside on metal in this weather isn't really a good idea

Street art / Graffiti car question, by Neverwork on Mar 29, 2014 12:42:08 GMT 1, the lambo's up for sale on jamesedition atm 475K, from the site:
"November 2013, Toys For Boys Miami - Prive Boutique, commissioned to have artist Jona Cerwinske paint a brand new 2013 Lamborghini Aventador Roadster during Art Basel Miami. The car recieved a masssive amount of attention during the acclaimed Art Basel event and was present at numerous art instalations since then.
Traditionally, artisans have chosen to wrap vehicles prior to painting or wrap the car in a preexisiting design. The goal of this project was to use the Brand New $500,000 Lamborghini Aventador as a true, unadultered canvas.
If the buyer wishes they can request to have Cerwinske paint the last strokes (About 3-5 hours) at their location of choice.
The car is Brand New and in immaculate condition. Ready for your living room wall or the streets of Dubai.
The car can be viewed for inspection at Toys For Boys Miami or at Lamborghini Palm Beach. "
take it easy...
