Stop and Search framing suggestions, by thetruth55 on Feb 9, 2008 18:20:44 GMT 1, What is everyone thinking will make the Stop and Search look the best framed? What colors of matte, matte, or float print, etc.? I am thinking about a black first matte and blue second matte to match the officer's latex glove. I've only seen a few of these on the "Get out your Banksy's" thread.
Also, while I'm posting....I see an awful lot of all white frames for Banksys and other urban art...is there a reason for this? I can't imagine that an all white frame would suit the Stop and Search very well, since there is so much empty space on the print as it is.
I'd appreciate any comments, suggestions. Thanks!

It's quite complicated to explain. It's basically a distressed silver wood frame with a triple mount, with one of the inner mounts being duck egg blue to pick out the colour in the gloves. It's absolutely fantastic. I am very pleased with it.

Stop and Search framing suggestions, by carpetbelly on Feb 9, 2008 18:57:03 GMT 1, i'm glad it isn't just me that thinks a lot about the frame that goes with the print. My misses thinks I'm mad to have prints in tubes still while I find just the right frame for them.

Stop and Search framing suggestions, by thetruth55 on Feb 9, 2008 23:45:00 GMT 1, Buffin, Looks great. Thanks for sharing. Mine will look similar, except the second (outer) matte will be light blue matching the latex glove. I should have it in a week and I'll post here. Do you think my selection of mattes will work?
Also, what material of frame is yours (i.e. what type of wood)? I went with maple since the framer said the glass would be heavy on a piece this big.

I think your choice of mattes will look great. Also a black or grey matte would work well I think. One thing to bear in mind is that this is quite a big print once framed up. I know what your framer means about it being heavy!

Stop and Search framing suggestions, by thetruth55 on Feb 10, 2008 18:25:30 GMT 1, Pezlow, that looks killer! Is that 4 mattes total? I like how the "latex blue" is slipped in there so casually. What type of frame is that - do you know the type of wood? What did that cost you (it's dollar/foot in the US, but I can do the conversions)?

hey hickboy, why don't you try to add something positive to the boards here for once- how would YOU have done the framing on this piece, you know, with your expertise and all? hopefully it wouldn't involve beef jerkey and a bag of Beech Nut.

again, tell us what you think would do the print justice. what would you choose for frame and matte, colors, etc.?

Stop and Search framing suggestions, by rurualhick on Feb 11, 2008 6:14:48 GMT 1, LESSON 1 - MINIMALISTIC FRAME IS A MUST. AVOID ANYTHING ORNAMENTAL. OF COURSE MOST ON HERE GO TO THE BLASPHEMY EXTREME OF GOING GAUDY. TOTALLY KILLING THE ARTWORK BY HAVING YOUR EYES FOCUS ON THE FOOKN' UGLY FRAME RATHER THAN THE ART. Y'ALL SHOULD TAKE A 101 COURSE IN BASIC CONCEPTS IN ART AND DESIGN.
